Spend your next holiday dawdling in the dunes at Camping Onlycamp de la Mer in Stella Plage, a seaside site where the sands of Stella beach in Pas-de-Calais are accessible directly from the grounds. This wildlife haven is only a 15-minute drive from Le Touquet and around three hours' drive north of Paris. Making a quick dash over from Britain? It’s also within easy reach of ferry ports, with Calais about an hour and 10 minutes’ drive away. Once you’ve arrived, activities to get stuck into are plentiful: this prime park in northern France has partnerships with many a local tour organiser, so you can learn to surf, kayak across the sea or take a walking tour of nearby bays in search of seals. More interested in hanging out with horses? An equestrian centre is a 15-minute drive away to the north in Le Touquet, also home to a golf course and waterpark. Heading south instead, make for Parc Bagatelle for rides and rollercoasters to suit the younger kids; the parkland here is also ace for picnicking. Great spot near a lovely beach, with friendly staff. Pitches are spacious, but facilities are basic and dated – think missing toilet seats/paper. Showers can be hit or miss. Peaceful vibes overall.

Liked Très bon séjour en camping-car !
​Nous avons passé un très bon week-end dans ce camping. Les sanitaires sont propres, le personnel est très agréable, et c'est un vrai plaisir de retrouver l'esprit des campings d'autrefois : uniquement des tentes, des caravanes et des camping-cars, sans mobil-homes !
​Les emplacements sont dans le sable, ce qui fait tout le charme du lieu, et il y a des jeux pour les enfants. La proximité de la plage et du centre-ville est un vrai plus.
​Côté services, on retrouve une friterie, un bar, ainsi que du pain et des viennoiseries sur commande. Mention spéciale pour l'animation avec un guitariste-chanteur super qui nous a fait chanter et danser !
​Je reviendrai, c'est sûr.

Liked Der Strand und die Dünen sind super .
Es ist toll zum Baden, Muscheln sammeln und Krebse beobachten. Der Spielplatz ist ganz nett. Man kann sich Baguette oder Croissant bestellen zum Frühstück, die sind sehr lecker. Die Mitarbeiter sind alle sehr freundlich.

Disliked Das Sanitärgebäude ist nicht schön. Es ist dreckig und ungepflegt.
In einer der Toilette war Blut an der Wand vom ersten Tag bis zum letzten. Das Toilettenpapier ist oft leer. Und die Toilette sind eigentlich immer schmutzig. Klobrille gibt es nicht, das ist aber wohl normal in Frankreich.
Bei den Außentoilette gibt es auch kein Waschbecken, was Grade ab 22 Uhr blöd ist da wird das Waschhaus abgeschlossen und man kann nur noch auf die Außentoilette.
Diese sind Nachts manchmal beleuchtet aber leider nicht jede Nacht.
Die Pissoir sind für alle einsehbar.
Die Duschen haben mal warm Wasser mal nur kalt oder auch mal heiß , kann man leider nicht wirklich einstellen. Es sind auch viel zu wenig 180 Plätze 9 Duschen.
Man muss oft schlage stehen.
So auch bei den Toiletten 12 Stück sind während der Stoßzeiten Zuwenig.

Liked Proximity to the beach and the local town a short walk away down the road or over the dunes and down the beautiful beach. Very modern free black and fresh water station. A bit confusing to use but very clean once you mastered it. Site is very quiet. Nice outside bar and seating area with a pop up burger stand in high season.

Disliked Large shared pitches and had to trail our electric cable over other people's sites. Large shower block only had three toilets inside. Lots of sinks and showers. Pulled up to the barrier and then had to reverse and park up and walk to reception to check in. A sign stating this at the entrance would have helped.

Liked It was a cheap one night stay prior to getting a ferry home after a long drive across France. Shower block when open was well presented.

Disliked I didn’t like the shower block and sink area closing at 10 pm and didn’t open till 8.00 am, we had to leave before they opened. Some toilets remained open but no sink to wash your hands.

Local attractions

If you’re swayed by the idea of learning to sail, do it on the sand instead of sea at a school in Berck 20 minutes’ drive south of the park. Or is the water where you’ll want to be? If so, a place for renting standup paddleboards, pedal boats and jetskis is around 10 minutes away. Have an ocean experience without getting wet at the aquariums of the Maréis - Sea Fishing Discovery Center (20 minutes’ drive), or go to take a look at the thousands of underwater creatures at the Nausicaá National Sea Center 50 minutes away in Boulogne-sur-Mer. Inland and outdoors is Montreuil’s old town (25 minutes) and the Vallée de la Course (35 minutes), for flitting around a pretty landscape dotted with farmhouses, posh mansions and churches. Castles are (of course) around here too – drive half an hour to Château de Recques-sur-Course to mosey around a stately Louis XV-style structure.
