  • Family-run site in Ardres, five minutes' walk from town centre
  • A 20-minute drive to Calais; half an hour to north-coast beaches
  • Private fishing pond on site; three minutes' walk from Lac d’Ardres
Quiet lakeside location for the peaceful vibes or handy town setting for the convenience of being able to walk to a shop? No need to choose when you’re staying at Camping Ardresien – this Nord-Pas-de-Calais site is in a particularly choice position in the town of Ardres, about five minutes’ walk from the town centre, which hosts summer night markets. In the other direction, it's just a three-minute walk from Lac d’Ardres (along a direct path), a popular spot for pedal boating, renting small boats, slurping on an ice cream or watching the annual July fireworks. This family-run site is a friendly and laidback site where pets and kids are welcome and pitches are quiet and well kept. A play area and pétanque court are on site, along with picnic tables where you can serve up your meals (cooked on a barbecue if you’d like to bring one along). The highlight for many people, though, is the private fishing pond, available for guests to use during their stay. The edge-of-town location is a very handy one that puts you just a few minutes’ walk from a good variety of shops and places to eat, along with other amenities like banks and a post office. Being about 20 minutes’ drive from Calais is another bonus on the location front too, as it puts cross-channel travellers within easy reach of the ferry port (and makes this site a good choice for a first or last night). The nearby coast isn’t all about ferries, of course – you’ll also be able to get to a nice sandy beach or a coastal nature reserve. Turning the other way, there are lots of walks and other outdoor activities in the Caps et Marais d’Opales Regional Natural Park.

What customers say

Immaculate, family-run site, perfect for Channel hops. Praised for cleanliness, private pitches, and quiet. Shower tokens & your own loo roll needed, but management's aware.

Fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding pitch

Liked Very friendly welcome.
Very clean site.
Excellent shower, toilet and washing facilities.
Great location for last night stay prior channel crossing.
Pitches are a good size.

Disliked Although each pitch was big enough, the site itself just felt a little cramped.
However this minor point wouldn't stop us using it again.

Fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding pitch

Liked Lovely clean and tidy site. Owner was lovely and welcoming. I can also say that ignore all comments about the narrow entrance, it is very wide and our motorhome is just under 3m wide and got through with plenty of space either side. Also comments about no seats or toilet paper, this is very typical of French campsites. Had chemical waste site too.

Fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding pitch

Liked The cleanliness of the toilet/showers

Disliked Although paying for a shower, I didn't realise I should have been given a token to allow me to take a shower. Attempting to have the shower at 06.00 just before I left, I realised.

No WiFi.

Fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding pitch

Liked Very friendly owners, nice and clean toilet/shower block. Close to Calais for the ferry. Very good value. Nice and quiet.

Disliked Pitch was actually grass, not a hard standing/gravel but that wasn't a problem as it was flat and well drained.
