  • Glamping site with transparent pods for guests to sleep and stargaze
  • Close to activities in the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park
  • Private bathrooms, hot tubs and homemade meals
Get ready for your – stellar and spectacular – social media bragging rights. For you'll be stargazing – and sleeping – in stunning surrounds at Bulle d'R in the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park: take a look at those stellar and spectacular geodesic domes. Stare up at the night sky in cosy comfort from your dome, without any pesky interference from light pollution in this rural setting. Even more fably, each dome has its own private terrace with hot tub, and dinner and breakfast can be delivered direct to your bubble base by the friendly Bulle d'R hosts. This gorgeous glampsite is on a wooded estate a few minutes' stroll from the Haute-Vienne commune of Dournazac in the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park, 45 minutes' drive from Limoges. The surroundings have hiking and biking routes aplenty to explore by day, or you could take to the Dronne river for canoeing or have a potter around the grounds of Château de Montbrun, three kilometres away. For an even more idle time – much recommended in these peaceful parts – drive 15 minutes to lounge on the lake beach at Espace Hermeline.

Local attractions

It's not just a sandy beach at your leisurely disposal 10 kilometres away at Espace Hermeline: this watery body is surrounded by hiking and mountain bike trails, has ziplining for the headily adventurous and paintballing for the competitive, and is also home to the Bussière-Galant velorail along an abandoned railway track. Your local castle is Château de Montbrun, five minutes' drive from Bulle d'R (or bikeable via Rue des Châtaigniers) and built in the 12th century by England's Henry 2. It's well worth the 35-minute drive too to famed Château de Puyguilhem just outside Villars, hailed as the best preserved Renaissance-style castle in the Périgord; carve out some time for a ramble in the surrounding oak forest after your visit. Limoges, famed for its porcelain (and the setting of France's National Porcelain Museum) is also well worth a day trip (or two); slightly further afield at an hour's drive is Périgueux and its UNESCO-listed Byzantine cathedral.
