Electric grass motorhome pitch (waterside)

Liked: Ourselves and our frriends, having been delayed 1.5 hours getting off the ferry in Calais, made our way to Camping de la Valee with a minute or two to spare before 7pm and found a warm welcome from our reception. Beautiful site overlooking the lake, great facilities and far too short a stay. We will be back!!

Non-electric grass tent, touring caravan or trailer tent pitch (waterside)

Liked: Lakeside pitch. Quiet with the sounds of nature, opportunity to fish on lake

Disliked: Didn’t realise we needed a token for the shower (we were aware it was a €1. So tried to put this in the box, unfortunately reception wasn’t open until 9am so make sure you get a token for shower when you check in)

From the manager: Thanks a lot for your comments and wonderful photos.

Ok, probably better if you like to fish (at night).

Non-electric grass tent, touring caravan or trailer tent pitch (waterside)

Liked: View over the lake, central location to visit the area. Good supplies shop a couple of km to the north. Showers were hot, facilities ok.

Disliked: After 24 hours on our pitch the one next door was taken by a large family group. Mainly Dads and kids, it was noisy but ok, then the Dads / Uncles got out the Jack Daniels and started playing music after 23:00 whilst some were night fishing. So we packed the caravan and drove out to the car park to get some sleep before heading off early for breakfast down the road. A bit unlucky on this site.

From the manager: Sorry to hear that. I didn't know this team of fishermen will not sleep and be so noisy. I was told of this in the morning. They actually bothered a lot of people but no one called the management. When some people are noisy at night I go to see them and ask them to stop. This group of fishermen will not be allowed to come again as we like our campsite to be tranquil. But I don't know if it's possible to make one full season without some troubles, sorry again it happened during your stay.

Non-electric grass tent, touring caravan or trailer tent pitch (waterside)

Liked: The setting was lovely and peaceful just on the edge of the lake. We realised when we arrived that we had stayed here about 5 years ago. Very generous pitch with constant sunshine.

Disliked: We had asked for a pitch near the toilet block which we did have , however it was still a long walk for me to the toilet and shower block. My husband had to take me in the car. Thought there was a general air of "tiredness" about the buildings

From the manager: Hello, thank you for staying with us and for leaving a comment. Unfortunately, we do not have a pitch situated next to the sanitary blocks as the pitches next to it are residential. We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you..

Non-electric grass tent, touring caravan or trailer tent pitch (waterside)

Liked: Beautiful location by the lake and handy for Dieppe and the coastal resorts

Disliked: Tokens for the showers give you a set time and without warning would stop the water. The function gazebo by the lake hosted events late into the night, spoiling the tranquil lake side pitches.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hello Brett, Thank you for taking time to post your comnent. There was actually a birthday celebration in the marquee the night you are complaining about. The firework by the lake took place at 10pm and they ended partying at 11pm. During summer there are events every other saturday such as concerts, zumba, dinner dances, etc. They all end at 11pm. Our new function room is under construction that's why we settled a marquee by the lake for the convenience of all our campers especially when it's raining. We are planning to move this marquee at a remote pitch but we have earthwork to do and it can't be done yet. About the shower tokens it lasts 8 minutes and the water is hot, no one is complaining about that. Have a great day. Our campsite is tranquil 99% of the time, sorry you were disturbed from 8pm to 11pm that day. Best regards

Non-electric grass tent, touring caravan or trailer tent pitch (waterside)

Liked: The whole site has amazing views

Disliked: The toilet and shower blocks are very dated and in need of an upgrade. There are only a few of each and are absolutely not adequate for the size of the site.

Local attractions

The beach at Quiberville-sur-Mer is your nearest (10 minutes by car) for dipping, lounging and digging big holes. The larger town of Veules-les-Roses (15 minutes) has beetling cliffs and a pebble shore that once drew painters by the cartload. Veules-les-Roses is also a good place to try your hand at windsurfing and sea-kayaking. Fécamp (50 minutes) is the starting point for the Route du Lin (Linen Route) cycle path, taking in history and some of Normandy's finest scenery over an 80-kilometre route, and is also home to Woody Park and its tree climbing and bungee jumping. Hautot-sur-Mer (10 minutes) is one of many local centres for equestrian activities, including guided horseback trails. For a busy port, Dieppe (20 minutes) is remarkably easy on the eye; Saturday markets will thrill/horrify some visitors with buckets of live snails and recognisable bits of boar. On the cliffs above in the Château Musée you can see how Renoir, Pissarro and Sickert painted the town red (and other colours).
