Liked: The site was very welcoming from the friendly staff to other users. We asked to be next to our friends when booking and they achieved this. The facilities were in good condition and clean. Site was within 10/15 mins walking into the city.

Liked: Very pleasant reception and staff. Facilities were clean and the site was well maintained . Site felt very safe and you could get a good night's sleep. Nice idea to have 'pop up' food vans at night offering different types of food each evening.

Disliked: The patches are very narrow for motorhomes

Liked: This is a great site, clean and well maintained. The location is perfect for a short walk into Bayeux, lots of restaurants in the city, would definitely stay here again. Pitches were well maintained and the staff very helpful. Would advise advance booking, saw lots of disappointed travellers turned away as it was full.

Disliked: No soap to wash hands in the restrooms or hand drying facilities

Liked: The site was great and clean, really quiet and a short stroll into Bayuex. Check in was simple and friendly.

Disliked: No hand dryers in toilet block and the lack of bins around the site.

Liked: Stayed here about 20 years ago. Well laid out pitches with communal dining area for campers. Fresh baguettes daily too. Helpful staff.

Disliked: Toilets were cleaned from 8.30 am, which was the time of high usage

Liked: Very friendly and welcoming staff. Nice clean showers and toilets. Easy walk by the river into Bayeux. Next to a new swimming complex (with free entry). Nice pitch, although smaller than some. Different food vans each night. Short walk to hypermarket.

Disliked: Early morning cleaning of shower/toilet block when most want to use it.

Liked: Great site. Exactly as I expected but more convenient to walk to Bayeux than I thought. Amenities clean and convenient. We will be back.

Local attractions

Take the peaceful stroll or quick bike ride from the site into the centre of Bayeux a kilometre away, home of course to the mammoth Bayeux Tapestry, the 68 metres of 11th-century tapestry depicting the Normandy invasion of England and the subsequent Battle of Hastings. Also in town is the 11th-century Bayeaux Cathedral, a British war cemetery, the Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandy and the MAHB art museum, with paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, porcelain and Bayeux lace from throughout the centuries. Another D-Day museum is at Arromanches-les-Bains, 12 kilometres north-east of Bayeux, and the Normandy landing beaches of Omaha, Juno and Utah are all within 40 kilometres. The Caen Memorial, commemorating World War II and the Battle for Caen, is 25 kilometres away. Outdoor activities are easily sorted with local horse riding, a couple of kilometres from the site, or with watersports including paddleboarding, sailing and sea kayaking at the nearby Normandy beaches, 10 kilometres away. You could also spend a day at the Ponds of Planquery fishing pools (15 kilometres), or take the kids to the Festyland amusement park (20 kilometres), themed around the events of 1066 and all that.
