- Tree-lined site set above the brightly coloured Zrmanja river canyon
- A 10-minute drive to Obrovac town and 35 to Paklenica National Park
- Swimming pool, Croatian restaurant, cycle hire, kids’ club and wifi
Step back in time with a stay at Camping Village Zrmanja – this top site teetering above the Zrmanja river canyon was built in the traditional Croatian style by a family who wanted to welcome people back to their region after the country’s 1990s war with Bosnia.
Placed at the edge of the Kruševo hamlet of Drage in a rural setting, a 10-minute drive from Obrovac town, the park focuses on giving culturally minded folk an authentic experience while in the northern Dalmatia region of Bukovica.
Adventurers are also sorted here – the site's a 35-minute drive from Paklenica National Park and thrill-seeking expeditions like kayaking and rafting tours, horse riding and jeep safaris are a breeze to source. There’s also hiking and caving to be had around spots like the towering Tulove Grede peak (40 minutes), plus bike rental is organised on base.
And if you simply want to rest in the park’s tree-lined grounds? That’s covered too as a swimming pool is on site for spending slow days floating about in the water while the tiddlers are in the kids’ club. The restaurant serves traditional Croatian cuisine, along with hosting cheese, brandy and wine tastings, so finding eats is also easy.

Local attractions
Venture out to Obrovac (10 minutes’ drive) for a look at this top town’s old ruins of a fortified city, then blow off some steam with a spot of kayaking and canoeing on the Zrmanja river (10 minutes).
Rather relax? Rove to another aquatic attraction, Meka Draga’s beach on Karinsko More bay, and pick out a place to sunbathe on the sand (15 minutes).
For pretty panoramas over the river canyon, mosey to the Pueblo VinetuPariževačpuebloka Drehort von Winnetou Filmen viewpoint (bonus points if you manage to commit this name to memory before your hol is up…); more scenic vistas are in Paklenica National Park (35 minutes), the place to go for the deep Velika and Mala Paklenica canyons, the striking karst rock formations and the green tree-lined landscapes.
Set off on an expedition to the national park’s Manita Peć cave, keeping an eye out for bats as you explore, then take a trail outside in search of the eagles, bears and deer that call this area home.
If you’re more of a mountain sort of person, an epic hiking trip up to the Tulove Grede peak (40 minutes) is a must.
