  • Family business with extensive experience in family/outdoor holidays
  • A 20-minute drive from Arica and its 20 kilometres of beaches
  • Pools, play area, TV room, cafeteria and shop
The peeps at Camping San Pedro know what's what when it comes to Chilean adventurers: this is a family business with a couple of decades' worth of experience in running family and outdoor holidays to suit all sorts. For example. You can throw your own party by booking your own celebration at this excellent Arica y Parinacota site (celebrating just what is up to you)... or enlist the team's help in ensuring your birthday goes with a bang... or even get hitched here should you so wish – the team has extensive experience in arranging weddings too. No thanks to all that? Take yourself off surfing, sand basking and general adventuring instead: Camping San Pedro is an easy 20-minute drive from Arica, Chile's most northern city and a famed spot for surfing, over 20 kilometres of beaches and one of the highest lakes on the planet. The site is fully equipped, with comfortable facilities including pools for adults and kids, a play area, a TV room, a cafeteria and a food shop.

Local attractions

You could spend your entire Chilean hol around Arica: it's an utterly excellent spot. As well as the surfing, bodyboarding and those 20 kilometres of golden beach, Arica's a top pick for historic highlights, like the Museo de Sitio Colón with its 32 excavated Chinchorro mummies, colourful St Mark's Cathedral, and the Museo Histórico y de Armas covering the region's history and military history. Another famed Arica attraction is the Morro de Arica, a high hill and a national monument, from which you can see as far as Peru. Just outside town, Chungará Lake in the Lauca National Park is the 12th highest lake in South America and the 31st highest in the world: some spectacular scenes await your camera, particularly of Parinacota Volcano. And then? Have a look at the House of Culture and the Archaeological and Anthropological Museum of San Miguel de Azapa, before an evening in Arica's casino.
