  • Well-maintained family-run Pembrokeshire site six miles from Pembroke
  • Freshwater West beach five minutes' drive; Barafundle Bay 20 minutes
  • Sea views on one side, with National Trust estate on the other
If you’re heading to Pembrokeshire to explore its famously gorgeous coastline, you’ll probably be particularly delighted to hear you can see the sea from right there on your pitch when you stay at Newton Farm Campsite. This spacious and well-maintained farm site is about six miles west of Pembroke, just off the road heading down towards the fabulous Freshwater West beach (five minutes’ drive away). With the sea views on one side (especially stunning at sunset…) and a backdrop of the National Trust’s Gupton Estate on the other, it’s a pretty place to hang out at all hours of the day. And by night too… as this is a dark-skies area where you should get some good stargazing on clear nights. The grass pitches here are part of a family-run site that’s got a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and access to all the essential facilities including toilets, showers, a washing-up area and chemical disposal. It’s a laidback place where you’ll be allowed to bring along dogs and barbecues or light campfires as long as you’re careful with them all. This site makes a great base for getting out and about to explore this part of Pembrokeshire – several fabulous sights, including Barafundle Bay, the Bosherston lily ponds and the Green Bridge of Wales, are within 20 minutes’ drive, and there are some great family attractions around such as Oakwood Theme Park and Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo. You might also like to note that the ferry port for services to Rosslare is only about 10 minutes’ drive, making this a handy spot to consider for a stay before or after you cross the Irish Sea.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The site itself was clearly posted and there was so much space when we arrived. Host was very accommodating and was available for any queries or issues. The location was amazing, you can see the sea from the site and the most beautiful beach is only 5 mins by car a bit longer by foot but accessible and great for an evening stroll and picnic.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Location was good, short drive to the beach and easy enough to park there. Nice quiet site with plenty of space between pitches. I was glad the oil refinery was quiet even if a bit of an eye sore!. The rest of our group thought it was impressive! We got one perfectly clear evening with a beautiful sunset, gorgeous starry night & even a few shooting stars. Also saw a silhouetted owl swoop down for its dinner which was pretty spectacular. Nice sea view walking back from the facilities but you couldn't pitch a tent with a sea view because that area is on a steep slope.

Disliked: Toilet/shower facilities got swept but not sure when the loos or sinks themselves last got a clean which was disappointing. Paper towels were not restocked regularly. Could do with some hooks/shelf in the loos to place washbag etc rather than trying to juggle it all. Shame there was no hot water for washing up either. Luckily we brought extra gas canisters so could boil water. Listing says there's an ice pack freezer - didn't see anywhere for this. Phoned upon arrival but no answer so just cracked on & pitched so perhaps we would have known about freezer facilities if we'd managed to speak to someone.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Lovely large space with great views, Rowland was amazing and came round to check on everyone, facilities were clean and easy with a beautiful beach less than a 5 min drive away! Thanks again Alfie, Millie and Arlo.

Disliked: Obviously very near the coast so you are a bit exposed if there is high winds and you're in a tent but that's the weather's fault.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Well maintained site. Lots of space between pitches. Owner was very nice and helpful. Made us feel very welcome suggested a nice quieter beach to visit. Toilets were clean, showers looked clean however didn't use it. It was quiet nice seeing the power station lit up at night couldn't hear any noise coming from it.
