  • Luxurious self-catering pods in Powys countryside, Mid Wales
  • Golf, Dyfnant Forest and Eryri National Park 20 minutes’ drive
  • Woodfired hot tubs and firepits in spacious dog-friendly gardens
A small and family-run Powys site 10 minutes’ drive from Llanfair Caereinion in stunning Mid Wales countryside, Banwy Glamping has a couple of self-contained, self-catering glamping pods on a rural five-acre site. At the bottom of the field is access to walks along the River Banwy, and one of the pods is named after the site's small flock of Embden geese, which can be spotted in the upper farm fields. Each pod has a kingsize bed, a fully equipped kitchenette with a small oven, a combination fridge/freezer, a kettle and a toaster, as well as an ensuite bathroom containing a loo and hot shower. Exclusive-use woodfired hot tubs come as part of the package and there is a wooden log box beside each tub – the site owners supply two bags of wood, a box of kindling, fire lighters and matches. Further logs and kindling are available to buy in the small on-site shop. The gardens have a firepit and barbecue grill (with all the tools you need), and a bag of charcoal is supplied – there’s more in the shop if you should run out. An acre of private garden is yours to enjoy too. Dogs are welcome to join in all the glamping fun, and you can borrow books on local walks in the Meifod Valley, Welshpool and Newtown from the shop.

Stag Lodge 1 bedroom camping pod (two person, hot tub)

Liked Lovely spacious lodge if you’re looking for a peaceful, secluded break. The hot tub was great and a great lovely to relax with a glass of wine. King size bed was unusual for glamping but was very welcome and comfortable. Kitchen facilities were good although the oven was very slow to heat up. Barbecue coals were provided and extra were available from the onsite shop. Nice touches from the friendly owners such as leaving bags of wood, kindling and firelighters for the fire pit. A bottle of Prosecco and flowers on arrival was very much appreciated and made us feel welcome.

Disliked The location was very remote and too far to walk to local pubs/shops etc, but this could also be regarded as a positive. Lots of flies inside the lodge which were annoying but it is a rural area so not unexpected. However a better solution than a fly swat would be recommended for the future. One set of towels for three days was not enough given there was a hot tub and more could have been provided. Access to Wi-Fi would be a great addition.
