Come to this Mid Wales site to unwind. The Bryn is a pop-up site in the Powys countryside, near the village of Howey and about 10 minutes' drive south of Llandrindod Wells. There are lots of short circular walks around this area, and you'll also be in a handy spot for trails like Glyndwr's Way, the Severn Way, the Heart of Wales Line Trail and Offa’s Dyke Path. Not walked far enough yet? Well, you've still got the Elan Valley, Hafren Forest and the northern parts of the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) to go… Of course, it's not all about walking – this fabulously green and rural area has plenty more to entertain, including watersports, cycling, horse riding, climbing and angling, plus farm attractions and historical sites to visit. In between all that, you'll likely need some decent downtime – and at The Bryn you'll have a splendid seven-acre field for that. It’s a pretty place too, with views across the Ithon Valley to the Cambrian Mountains in the distance. Look out for wildlife (and farm animals) by day, then turn your gaze skywards after dark, as you'll often be treated to great stargazing in this remote spot. This is a no-frills site but one that's got the essentials in the form of portable toilets and clean drinking water (although please note no showers on site). Kids and dogs are welcome, and you’re allowed to light barbecues (supplies for the grill or picnics are close by in and around Llandrindod Wells, Builth Wells and Rhayader, which also have plenty of places to eat out).

Liked Huge field so no others pitched close, Ideal as I have three dogs and no need to constantly keep on leads.

Disliked Nothing to dislike. Basic with just a water supply and toilets which is all I need.

Liked Lovely campsite, big open field with panoramic views. Early weekend in August and we had the place to ourselves. Facilities were really clean and the hosts very friendly. Will definitely stay again!

The field was perfectly in the middle of nowhere , so very dark and peaceful .

Liked Large field in quiet location. No traffic noise and couldn't hear other people. Lovely view.

Disliked Last 0.3 of the road is very bad. I wouldn't suggest it in a vehicle with low ground clearance. Water is a large container in one corner. Toilets were 2 chemical loos.

Liked Very easy to find off of the A483, if using Google maps make sure it doesn't change Bryn Farm to Brynhir Farm!

Owner was very friendly and helpful with check-in as we arrived at 10pm, which made it all the more lovely to wake up to their beautiful piece of the countryside.

Had tonnes of space to ourselves and could forget anyone else was in the field.

The portaloos were really clean and suitable for the type of stay.
