  • Quiet family-run site near Llanddewi Brefi, with lovely mountain views
  • A half-hour drive to Aberaeron; 35 minutes to Devil's Bridge Falls
  • Access to a mile and a half of fishing on the Teifi river; stargazing
Are the Cambrian mountains calling? Or could it be the coast? You’ll be able to do a bit of both at Cambrian Mountains Glamping and Camping, on the banks of the River Teifi in Ceredigion. This small family-run site has spectacular views of the Cambrian mountains – a little taster of what lies ahead if you’re venturing out for a hike among those hills. And what of the coast? Well, that’s about half an hour away by car for days out in the likes of Aberaeron, Aberystwyth or New Quay. A stay here puts you in a proper wildlife-rich rural retreat where you may well spot things like otters, kingfishers and buzzards as well as the resident ducks and swans. Being on the banks of the river also means easy access to fishing for those with the relevant licence – it’s just a five-minute walk from the site to a splendid mile and a half of riverbank, available from March to October, where you can try your luck fishing for salmon, trout and sea trout. Looking out from the site, the peaceful views may give you the impression that you’ve landed in the middle of nowhere, but in fact the little village of Llanddewi Brefi is about a five-minute drive away for a shop and a pub, and the slightly larger Tregaron is about 10 minutes away. Facilities on site include showers, toilets, a washing-up area and access to a fridge, washing machine and tumble dryer.

What customers say

Quiet, tidy spot with great rural & riverside views. Modern ablutions & own water taps. Hosts Menna & John get rave reviews. Small gripes: patchy Wi-Fi/phone signal & dog fee. Ideal relaxing base, many will be back!

Electric grass pitch

Liked The setting is absolutely beautiful with views of the hills behind. It is so quiet especially at night.. loved that. The river is only a short walk away across the fields. It was very hot and the big tree and hedge took the edge off our exposure to the sun which we liked. Facilities are regularly cleaned and we liked the amount available. Showers nice and hot too. We loved it and would 100% stay here again

Electric grass pitch

Liked We booked last minute after a quick phone call. Booked through pitch up which was all very simple and then got a text with our choice of pitch and the code to the toilets. Lovely field and we had a serviced pitch with electric and water. We only stayed one night and was great. Friendly fellow campers and very warm and friendly owner.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Peaceful farm site with wonderful views and fishing available Ona nice stretch of river. My partner enjoyed quite a few sessions on the river and caught a brown trout and almost caught a fiesta sea trout. He was very happy !
Menna site manager(?) is so friendly and helpful.
We had a very relaxed stay and explored much of the stunning countryside and coast in the car. Nearest supermarket is in Lampeter btw .
2 pubs in next village about 30 min walk

Disliked Bit of a wait for loo and shower when busier over the bank holiday but not a major issue.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Lovely little site set in a stunning location. The owner is delightful and the facilities were spotless, including washing machine and dryer. A manageable 1.4 mile walk into Llanddewi Brefi. Our pitch was fully serviced which makes life very easy. We were the only tourer there out of 10 pitches, given it's still early in the holiday year. However, it's such a peaceful setting, I can't imagine it would ever get noisy or feel busy. We will be back.

Local attractions

Getting up into the heart of the Cambrian mountains for a proper hike will take about half an hour in the car; for a little warm-up there are several trails you can follow directly from the site. For more strolls, head to Cors Caron Nature Reserve (15 minutes’ drive), where you can follow the old railway line or take the boardwalk around the reserve. Also very much worth a wander are Devil’s Bridge Falls (35 minutes), where a waterfall cascades into a stunning wooded gorge, and routes that take you to the ruins of Strata Florida Abbey (25 minutes). The National Trust estate at Llanerchaeron (half an hour) is another popular spot, with a walled garden, a wild park area and a lake as well as the John Nash-designed Georgian villa itself. And of course there are always the gorgeous walks of the Ceredigion Coast Path to add to the mix too – or you could head straight to lovely coastal towns like the colourful harbour town of Aberaeron (half an hour) or New Quay (40 minutes), the jumping-off point for dolphin-spotting trips and other sea safaris.
