  • CAMC and adults-only site five minutes’ walk from the Wales Coast Path
  • Aberaeron Beach 10 minutes’ drive and Aberystwyth 25 minutes
  • Well-maintained, dog-friendly pitches with Cardigan Bay views
Time to swap your sofa for spectacular views over Cardigan Bay. Yes, park up at CAMC-members only Bay View Campers Certificated Location in Ceredigion, and you’re all set for fabulous sea views, stunning sunsets and starry skies on clear nights. Even better, on a cloudless day you can see as far as the peaks of Eryri National Park (formerly Snowdonia) and the Llŷn Peninsula. Set about five minutes’ drive from the A487 coast road in-between Aberaeron and Aberystwyth, this level site covers 1.5 acres with hardstanding pitches. It caters for just a handful of adults-only self-contained caravans and campervans, with each pitch having an electric hook-up. The area is popular with hikers chalking up sections of the Wales Coast Path (five minutes’ stroll, any accompanying dogs will be glad of the exercise), and there is a bus service from the local village of Llanon if you want to ‘bus it’ back to the site after a day in the bracing sea air. Pretty much anything you need can be sourced at Aberaeron convenience stores (10 minutes’ drive), and there are major supermarkets plus a choice of restaurants and bars in Aberystwyth (25 minutes).

Local attractions

With Georgian-era houses in chocolate-box colours, the colourful coastal town of Aberaeron (10 minutes’ drive) makes a great first stop on a Ceredigion jaunt. Have an amble around the pretty harbour, take a picnic to eat overlooking the River Aeron, or order the freshest of seafood in cosy waterfront pubs. Aberystwyth (25 minutes) has a Victorian promenade to potter along, a ruined castle to explore and a cliff railway with spectacular views over Cardigan Bay. Head to New Quay (25 minutes) for a day out actually on the waters of Cardigan Bay (hopefully) spotting the famed pod of bottlenose dolphins. If you’d prefer to stay firmly on dry land, have a nose around National Trust-owned Llanerchaeron (10 minutes), a winning combination of a handsome Georgian villa designed by John Nash, walled vegetable gardens and dog-friendly paths winding through woodland. When all you’re looking to do is put your feet up on a beach, Cardigan Bay has some rather splendid options. There are two shingle stretches at Aberaeron and remote pockets of pebble at Gilfach yr Halen Beach (20 minutes) and Aberarth (10 minutes). If you’re after sand, choose Aberporth (40 minutes) or Penbryn (35 minutes).
