Ready for stunning views of Cardigan Bay and spectacular sunsets over the sea? Sounds like a trip to the west coast of Wales is on the cards, then. And when you do make your way to Ceredigion, you should certainly consider a stay at Aber Bay Holiday Park. This peaceful, family-friendly spot is just north of Aberystwyth, which you can reach by car (10 minutes’ drive) or via a splendid walk along the Ceredigion Coast Path (45 minutes), all the while taking in more of those unforgettable bay views from the clifftop. After all this talk of bays and coastlines, you might be wondering: just how close is the beach from the site? Well, Clarach Beach is about a 30-second walk away: literally just across the road and a patch of grass – how convenient is that? On days when the water is too rough (or too cold) for you, you can retreat to the indoor (heated) swimming pool, or just admire the sea from the terrace of the clubhouse, where you can gaze upon a vast stretch of coastline with a glass of something chilled in hand – or with a meal from the restaurant. Meanwhile, the kids can busy themselves in the outdoor play area or in the games room… Dogs are welcome at the site, and they can also join you on the beach (provided they stay on the north side of the river Clarach); they should have a jolly good time exploring rockpools and hidden coves.

What customers say

Stunning sea views & beach access! Clubhouse popular. Families love the facilities/activities. But, cleanliness & toilet/shower availability issues noted, plus separate camping site inconvenience. Check-in/out time mix-ups, pool fees & slow food service also mentioned.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Absolutely great site for a little holiday and test run for our new tent.
Lovely spacious pitches, toilets weren’t as bad as I thought they would be!!
Gorgeous part of Wales.

Disliked The walk to the clubhouse, but narrow when cars drive fast when you have young children.
Having to pay for swimming! But if I wasn’t camping🤷🏻‍♀️

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Absolutely lovely site , staff all friendly and helpful. There was a big falling out on night one of our stay (not involving us) a big group that travelled together had all fallen out and resulted in quite serious violence. My children were absolutely terrified to be woken up to screaming and shouting and fighting being there first time camping it wasn’t nice. My poor daughter begging to go home in the middle of the nigh. The police came and it was dealt with .the site acted promptly and all involved where made to leave the next morning , the only thing I would gripe at is that staff didn’t come around to check / reassure the other campers who where all frightened to leave there tents at that moment. But one said individuals had gone it was a fantastic place to be. We’ve booked to have a return stay soon.

Disliked Isn’t really much for the older children to do . Family of 8 - chippy tea cost a whopping £88 without drinks and wasn’t overly nice for the price.

Liked The beach that’s about it

Disliked We’re we camped the tents were so close together with other tents no lighting very dark not safe for your kids no security at night so anyone can just enter and attack u which unfortunately did happen there was 2 families in the corner swearing and being aggressive towards each other every one else was quiet trying to sleep just these 2 individuals was high on drugs or drunk causing so much noise and threatening behaviour anyway I asked them to be quiet because the kids are trying to to sleep and the 2 individuals come over and attacked me then the police eventually came over and they ran off I suffered injuries had to go to hospital I had bruises stiff neck cuts to the head slight concussion was so scary for the kids they were crying my dog was in the crate so stressed they damaged my tent snapped my tent pole ripped it by the zip not repairable £300 tent down the drain they threatened us b4 they ran off from the police saying they were going to kill my kids and my partner and the dog and burn the whole tent down with everyone in it so when the police came they safe guarded us so they put us up in the park home at the top of aber park home which my families great full such a crazy and scary situation to be in never coming back here I will be sharing it everywhere on my socials and friends an family , and to top it all off it was my birthday weekend get away break with my family my partner and my 2 young boys and my dog took us over 2 hours to get there , they said they was going to give us a free meal but they didn’t we paid for our meal which came up to £52 we had my birthday meal at the club house which we wanted over an hour for didn’t tell us there was a wait on food I ordered a gammon and it had no egg or pineapple on it and the lasagna wasn’t nice just taste of oregano after that we had a walk down the beach then went back to the park home and rested up then the next morning we packed up and left the aber park they gave us a refund of £51 for the 2 nights we planned to stay as it was £30 a night we payed £9 deposit a month prior to the weekend so overall it’s been the worst trip ever and won’t be coming again it’s a shame because we like aber been to aber a few times but won’t be coming back to this place again and will be telling everyone about this so if you want to keep your kids safe and get some sleep and not get attacked keep away from this place !

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Location was great. Good showers and toilet facilities. Well organised pitches with plenty of space and security on site.

Disliked We were a group of 12 and they would only allow us to book 10 into the pool at one time which was disappointing.
There was also a group on site that started a brawl in the middle of the night ending with police coming. The site handled it well but it tainted the experience.

Liked Nice staff and helpful warden

Disliked Considering it was a family area to be woken up with lads fighting and screaming and swearing at each other is horrendous luckily for us it didn't wake our kids and it was to close to us but could still hear them clearly and I mean full on fighting punching hell out of eachother for no staff to be near by and for the police to turn up full sirens going and blue lights to be complete woken up at mid night to then try go back to sleep I know this is the sites fault but still very frustrating! Feel sorry for the guys that were super close to it!! Showers felt really small especially with younger kids tryna squeeze past and s!ower them was a task!

Liked Lovely little site, going to sleep hearing the sea was calming and lovely and restaurant to relax in with very comfortable sea views and very reasonably priced. Toilets were spotless and well lit at night

Disliked Only thing would be if was busy, pitches are close together so would feel a bit cramped but they do space you out if not busy so was fine for us

Local attractions

If you make your way to Aberystwyth on foot along the Ceredigion Coast Path, you’ll reach Constitution Hill in about 25 minutes. Once there, stop for a coffee and to check out the Camera Obscura (in a pagoda-like building), before taking the Aberystwyth Cliff Railway into town, and then a steam-train ride to Devil’s Bridge Waterfalls on the Vale of Rheidol Railway. The Magic of Life Butterfly House (20 minutes), in the Rheidol Valley, recreates a tropical rainforest setting for its colourful winged residents, who will happily land on your body as you walk among them. Other beasties here include beetles, caterpillars and stick insects, plus poison dart frogs. In Eryri National Park (Snowdonia), Coed y Brenin Forest Park (an hour) has a purpose-built mountain-bike park with routes for all levels of ability (and a skills area where you can determine which are the most appropriate trails for you), plus numerous and well-marked hiking paths.
