  • Dog-friendly site under a mile from the southern shore of Loch Lomond
  • A five-minute drive to the John Muir Way; 10 minutes from Balloch
  • Restaurants and shops 10 minutesā€™ drive away; walk to a nature reserve
If Loch Lomond is in your near future, no need to look any further for a relaxing, dog-friendly site on its southern shores. Under a mile from the lochā€™s shores and 10 minutesā€™ drive away from Balloch, the well-presented Lagganbeg Caravan Park prides itself on its peaceful vibes and top location in the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. Birdwatchers, gather. The site is a short 15 minutesā€™ walk away from RSPB Scotland Loch Lomond, where you might spot an osprey or white-tailed sea eagle over the water. Hikers, arm yourself with a trusty pair of walking shoes too. The site is around five minutesā€™ drive away from the 134-mile John Muir Way from Helensburgh to Dunbar. Youā€™ll have your pick of a host of hiking and cycling trails suitable for all abilities in the local area too, including the likes of the West Loch Lomond Cycle Path and the National Cycle Route 7. A lighter 20-minute stroll is all it takes to get to the shore of Scotland's largest freshwater loch. Ogle over the surrounding munros for a while or take a gander at nearby Balloch (10 minutesā€™ drive) or Drymen (10 minutes), where there are restaurants and shops. Cities like Stirling (40 minutes) and Glasgow (50 minutes) are only a day trip away, as is Argyll and Bute. Plus, there are handy bus and train services from Balloch and Stirling. Lagganbeg Caravan Park is a family-run site, so itā€™s been very lovingly tended to facilities-wise. The toilet and shower block has rainfall showers and a family wet room, which is accessible for disabled guests. Thereā€™s also a laundry room with large-capacity washers, dryers and irons, all coin-operated, and hand-washing sinks and an indoor drying area.

Conic View electric hardstanding and grass touring caravan pitch

Liked: The location was lovely, with an amazing beach with an unbelievable view on the mountains. Very quiet and peaceful place, with all the facilities needed for a comfortable stay. Some delicious and organic duck eggs can be bought at the reception/shop. Overall it was a wonderful experience.

Disliked: The only aspect that I disliked was the bathrooms. Although those had a few showers and toilets available, the place was very dirty in case of mould and smell. Would be great if the bathrooms were deep cleaned(and I mean a proper rub) every few weeks at least.

Electric optional grass tent pitch

Liked: Facilities are well kept and stocked. WiFi works across the pitch as well which is very nice. This is quiet campsite which is exactly what we needed after day of riding motorbike in heavy rain. Very good and friendly communication with the host . Thank you !

Disliked: Grass/soil can be a little soaked after rain. Only mentioned it as we stayed at different campsites everyday and despite others were exposed to the same weather conditions, fields were less soaked.

Local attractions

This is a central base indeedā€¦ set your sights on historic Stirling (40 minutesā€™ drive), a city with historic credentials like a castle, The National Wallace Monument and The Battle of Bannockburn Visitor Centre (45 minutes). The latter is based on a medieval battle location, which some of you might recognise from the film Braveheart. Of course, Glasgow (50 minutes) has more historic attractions, especially museums and impressive architecture. There are shops and theatres for those seeking a simpler kind of entertainment. Those who havenā€™t already tasted enough whisky in the city bars can pay a visit to the Glengoyne Distillery (20 minutes), which runs tours and tastings (including of their tasty single malt whisky). Perhaps youā€™re an animal fan too. There are 300-plus creatures at the Blair Drummond Safari Park (35 minutes), including giraffes and lions, and hands-on activities with the farm animals at Briarlands Farm (35 minutes).
