Electric optional grass tent pitch (no cars, small)

Liked Friendly & helpful staff, good pitch size, modern facilities, all spotlessly clean. Quiet and peaceful site in beautiful surroundings

Disliked Not so much a dislike, but more of a suggestion, would be good if there were recycle bins a bit closer to the camping area, as having to carry all your rubbish to the hut in the wind, can be challenging! :-)

Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch (medium)

Liked We had a wonderful stay at Adare Camping and Caravan. The booking process through Pitchup was very straightforward, with clear information about the campsite, rules, and details provided in advance. On arrival, we received a warm welcome and an excellent introduction, which immediately made us feel at ease.

The facilities are well maintained — the toilets and bathrooms are spotless clean. The hot showers require a 50 cent, but it’s well worth it for the comfort and cleanliness. The site itself is peaceful, with a lovely quiet environment that makes it easy to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Overall, it’s a well-organized, friendly, and very clean campsite — a place we’d be happy to return to and recommend to others.

Electric optional grass tent pitch (small)

Liked The site was clean and inviting Hugh and his staff were very supportive and made our stay welcoming and enjoyable. I particularly liked the kitchen set up and access to the large open field beyond our pitch. We were on site with many dog people (the 2 week window where dogs are allowed) for the Irish Show Circuit. I sincerely hope we are allowed back next year, despite some dog owners (not necessarily show people) being less than diligent in cleaning up after their dogs. The strict noise curfew was most welcoming as on unrestricted sites, dog show revellers often party until the wee small hours.

Disliked The first shower in the ladies was stone cold on both occasions. I quickly learned to use cubicles 2 or 3 which suited perfectly. Other than that, I struggle to think of anything negative.

Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch (large, no pets)

Liked The pitches for larger tents were a fantastic size and room for cars also. Plenty of space to play games in each pitch.
The site is beautifully kept and ample showers and toilet facilities. Wash up area and communal kitchen kept very clean and tidy also.

Disliked Nothing at all, great camping site.

Local attractions

Eminently attractive Adare is one of Ireland's designated Heritage Towns and has plenty of shops and restaurants to sustain visitors on a snapshotting wander. There are two golf courses, a pitch and putt and the remains of three abbeys to wander around too; a playground is on the village outskirts. Slightly further afield, take to the water at Killalow, a lakeside town with cabin cruisers and other boats; tackle go-karting at Kilcornar; flit to the flying boat museum at Foynes, or explore the walks and bike rides of Curraghchase Forest Park between Adare and Askeaton (Arthurian fans: Tennyson claimed to have seen the Lady of the Lake here). The Grange stone circle, the biggest in Ireland, is near Lough Gur, between the Limerick towns of Herbertstown and Bruff. Or take a day in Limerick City, former home of Frank McCourt of Angela's Ashes fame, River Shannon boat tours, King John's Castle, Limerick City Museum and quite a large amount of nightlife: bop along to Dolan's Warehouse for some of the city's best live music gigs.
