Electric hardstanding pitch

Liked: Great little site, very friendly owner who gave us lots of info - some great pubs locally for meals - ideal for Salisbury, Shaftesbury or into the New Forrest ☀️

Electric hardstanding pitch

Liked: Location was in the middle of where we wanted to be close to stone henge, national trusts

Disliked: 1 toilet per sex and 1 shower, Train is directly behind pitches at high speed very loud and children wore ear defenders as they were extremely loud and just over a small fence My hardstanding pitch I was on weeds and could even see it was hardstanding The sight has a quiet curfew of 9.30 unbeknown to us as we were sat out no music just chatting and kids were playing and the owner does not like children's noise/playing and came and shouted at them on numerous occasions without speaking to us first even when asked Very disappointing as they were playing lovely and only a few people on site who were really friendly I have never been so unwelcome and made to feel vulnerable while away on my own with my young children used as a base to sleep as couldn't stay or play etc for too long. It was a very unpleasant experience and we are frequent tourers

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Fab place to stay, everything was clean and tidy, lovely sized pitch and great host! We had a lovely weekend staying at Honeysuckle Homestead and will definitely return again!

Disliked: We didn't realise just how close the trains coming by were. But that didn't ruin any of the trip, they're just a little loud when they come by :)

Electric hardstanding pitch

Liked: Nothing.

Disliked: This site has so much potential but it is very run down. There are weeds everywhere that aren't managed. It's impossible to sit outside your van on a nice evening and enjoy any views as it looks awful. The owners need to give it some TLC. The 1 toilet rarely had any loo roll, it's like only 1 per day was put in it, so I resorted to taking my own rather than risking there not being any. The site is right next to a railway line. We were in a touring van so the noise from this didn't bother us too much, but I can imagine if you are in a tent, the noise would be deafening. We were rather annoyed when someone on the site that was not holidaying, decided to begin repairing a car that was parked alost opposite us. They were revving the engine and banging about on it at 7.30am. This was extremely inconsiderate of those paying to stay on this site. We will definitely not be going back.

Electric hardstanding pitch

Liked: The nearby attractions such as Stonehenge and places to visit. However we didn't like actual location of campsite too near railway line.

Disliked: Train - next to campsite and woke me and my family up every night, several times as ran through the day and night. Facilities - poor and dirty, only 3 toilets, 1 shower. Mirror cleaned once in 2 weeks (I left a message in the dust to check!) and the owner turned the electricity off on the washing machine so I couldn't use it. The pitch - I paid for gravel but it was basically an overgrown weedy car park. The whole site needed a lot of maintenance it has clearly been neglected for years. Electricity - my fridge and freezer worked directly before and directly after our stay but not whilst I was there. I had to use a cooler box. The owner - she was very unfriendly and rathet rude which I find very odd from someone running a b&b and campsite. I have 2 additional need children and I home educate due to this. She shouted at them frequently to the point that my daughter was scared of her by the end! This ruined our stay and I would recommend to others (especially those with children) not to stay at this site. There was a trampoline at the end of the campsite and a seesaw but both were broken and hazards for children.

Local attractions

So you’ve visited medieval Salisbury (25 minutes’ drive), gazed at the Magna Carta in Salisbury Cathedral and (hopefully) defeated an escape room, but what about Old Sarum (25 minutes)? The ruins are where Salisbury’s first settlers lived and nowadays, visitors can climb up the ramparts, see where the original cathedral once stood and admire the Iron Age hillfort too. Wilton (10 minutes) was the ancient capital of Wessex and well worth a stop for walks along the Wylye river, the markets and Wilton House (15 minutes). Historical sites don’t end just there, though, as further out, there are the 14th-century ruins of Old Wardour Castle (20 minutes) and grand Kingston Lacy (40 minutes), where there are Japanese gardens, play areas, art and antiquities and garden tours. If it’s a safari day you’re after, that’s not as unthinkable as you’d expect in the Wiltshire countryside, because Longleat (half an hour) has a self-driving safari park with a lion and monkey enclosure. You’re more likely to see New Forest ponies roaming around New Forest National Park (40 minutes). Canoeing, cycling, hiking, hiking – all sorts, really – can be tracked down here, but if it’s the coast you’re really after, Bournemouth (55 minutes), Poole (55 minutes) and Lymington (an hour and 10 minutes) are further on.
