Electric hardstanding pitch

Liked: Everything was amazing from the start. Was greeted by a lovely gentleman who showed us to our selection of pitches to choose from. Very nice clean shower and toilets everything you need. Free wifi with kids is a blessing. The water supply even had a hose that can reach your pitch. We didn’t use it but there’s a washing machine to use only asking for a donation. Lovely place, lovely people would definitely return and recommend.

Disliked: None at all

Electric hardstanding pitch

Liked: Clean facilities with ready hot water for showers and washing up. Easy access to National Trust neighbouring parkland with lake for walking.

Disliked: Not a dislike but others have mentioned site runs alongside train line. All trains stopped by 1100 and did not hear another until around 7am when we were up and about. Lots of owls heard and no road noise. Some residential caravans with one occupier up early with radio on but again early morning as we were waking up.

Electric hardstanding pitch

Liked: Nice, friendly site - it's 'no frills' but is situated on the edge of a lovely village and next to the National Trust grounds at Dinton Park. Has basic, but nice toilets, shower and washing up room with a washing machine. Also has mostly decent wi-fi on site. We were particularly pleased that our host pointed us in the direction of the annual village outdoor cinema, which was a highlight of our stay.

Disliked: The hard standing pitches could have been tidied up (weeds and brambles) - the non-electric grass area seemed better kept and looked so much nicer. However, still a great stopover for 3 nights and great value at £22 with electric.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Great little site tucked away in the country side but still close to Salisbury and Wilton and only 25mins from Longleat. Quiet with great views and nice pub within walking distance. Corina was lovely and very accommodating. Clean and well maintained site with good well looked after facilities. Would definitely return if we're in the area.

Local attractions

So you’ve visited medieval Salisbury (25 minutes’ drive), gazed at the Magna Carta in Salisbury Cathedral and (hopefully) defeated an escape room, but what about Old Sarum (25 minutes)? The ruins are where Salisbury’s first settlers lived and nowadays, visitors can climb up the ramparts, see where the original cathedral once stood and admire the Iron Age hillfort too. Wilton (10 minutes) was the ancient capital of Wessex and well worth a stop for walks along the Wylye river, the markets and Wilton House (15 minutes). Historical sites don’t end just there, though, as further out, there are the 14th-century ruins of Old Wardour Castle (20 minutes) and grand Kingston Lacy (40 minutes), where there are Japanese gardens, play areas, art and antiquities and garden tours. If it’s a safari day you’re after, that’s not as unthinkable as you’d expect in the Wiltshire countryside, because Longleat (half an hour) has a self-driving safari park with a lion and monkey enclosure. You’re more likely to see New Forest ponies roaming around New Forest National Park (40 minutes). Canoeing, cycling, hiking, hiking – all sorts, really – can be tracked down here, but if it’s the coast you’re really after, Bournemouth (55 minutes), Poole (55 minutes) and Lymington (an hour and 10 minutes) are further on.
