  • Luxury off-grid shepherd's hut on a family farm in Wiltshire
  • A 25-minute drive from either Salisbury or Winchester
  • Electric golf buggy and private sun deck included
Stretch out on the sun deck or cosy up by the woodburning stove – either way, you'll want to take in the pretty natural surroundings at Little Buckholt Farm, a rural site that’s home to a luxury off-grid shepherd's hut that's great for couples' getaways. Located in the east of Wiltshire, the hut has been parked up in a quiet area of a 55-acre family farm, roughly 25 minutes' drive from the historic cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury. Outdoor seating means you can eat out in the open on warm evenings, and there's also the possibility of wandering up to the top of the farm for romantic picnics. With lovingly crafted interiors and lots of attractive decorative and practical features, the hut makes a cosy and self-contained place to stay for a short break (or a longer one…). Inside, there's a kingsize bed (with plenty of storage space underneath), a modern logburning stove, a smart ensuite toilet and shower room, solar-powered USB charging points and a kitchen with a fridge, freezer and Belfast sink. All dining ware, blankets, bedding and toiletries are provided. While you're welcome to park your car by the hut, The Burrow also comes with use of the farm's electric golf buggy, making it even easier to get around the farm.

Local attractions

Packed your hiking boots? This site is just a short distance from the Clarendon Way, a gorgeous footpath linking Winchester to Salisbury that passes through woodlands, farmland, water meadows and rare chalk streams. The Monarch's Way can also be accessed on foot from the farm, following the meandering route taken by Charles II as he escaped from Cromwell's Parliamentary forces after the last battle of the English Civil War. Hop in the car and you can reach the New Forest National Park in just over 20 minutes – a haven for cycling, walking and horse riding. More wanders await in the South Downs National Park, the edge of which is about half an hour away in the heart of Hampshire. The edge of the Test Valley is about 10 minutes away too, with pretty towns like Stockbridge (10 minutes) and Romsey (20 minutes) to explore, as well as some of the best river fishing spots in the country. For a proper pampering, book yourself in for a sauna session at Norman Court Estate (five minutes). You can also take advantage of this high-rated health club's other facilities, which include tennis and squash courts.
