Electric grass pitch (large)

Liked: The location, short walk from the Devises cain flight of locks. The grass was very green. The ducks and geese interesting to watch. Electrical hook up and drinking water on pitch.

Disliked: Noisy, lots of road noise from near by main road. Lots of road traffic on gravel track going back and forth to the nearby boat yard. Toilets in poor condition and used by non campers. Hot water available but always takes ages to come through. Flat camping pitches are sloped.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Close to the Kennet & Avon canal, and family nearby

Disliked: Foxhangers is 2 business's it seems, the main one is for Narrowboat hire, the second is the touring park, or, field. The impression we had after 6 nights there was that the younger family members got stuck in on the narrowboat side of things, leaving a nice ol Man to run the touring side. The pitches quickly became difficult after a little rain, we saw at least 3 get a tow out of the mud by the ol fella who looked after things. The showers and toilet block are quite a distance from touring pitches, so not easy for a quick wee in the early hours. 1 Very basic chemical waste disposal point, and no grey water disposal, when we asked where this was, was told to "dump it in the hedge like most people", for a countryside site, not very environmentally for a countryside site me thinks. The site is basic, thats it... the narrowboats are luxurious, enough said

Local attractions

Wander the canal first of all, for a short stroll along its locks or for the peacefully scenic three-mile walk into the market town of Devizes, home of 29 canal locks and hundreds of historic sites including over 500 listed buildings and an 11th-century Norman castle. History is all around here, such as at the famed and ancient stones of Avebury, 10 miles away, Chippenham and Trowbridge, both within 15 miles, and Lacock Abbey & Cloisters six miles away, used as a location in some of the Harry Potter films. The petting zoo, adventure playground, Georgian stately home and Capability Brown-designed gardens Bowood House & Gardens are seven miles away. A 20-mile drive will take you to the Roman baths, shopping and beaut old buildings of UNESCO World Heritage city of Bath along the River Avon; if you're a literary type, take pride in a trip to the city's Jane Austen Centre to see its museum on the writer and have a sup in its Regency tearoom. Bradford-on-Avon, 10 miles away, also has Georgian houses as well as plenty of independent shops and a handsome riverside walk. Stonehenge and Longleat Safari Park are both 20 miles from the farm.
