Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Lovely little site, Staff very friendly Good location, plenty space for the children to run and play

Disliked: Road leading to campsite over grown and scratched my motorhome both sides

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Aww thanks for this review So glad you liked the place Just a small point to say here about the road leading to the campsite being over grown and scratching your motor home both sides? This is the first report of such a thing happening that I have received The farm track that I own is NOT over grown and no one has reported getting scratched there. Indeed I would be surprised if they did as its frequented by huge biffa lorries and deliveries regularly. So I looked closely at the lane leading to my track. There are indeed a few Hedges on the byway unfortunately I don't have control over these I presume if the hedges are long it's either the land owners or the councils responsibility, it's certainly not something I can control. Maybe ring south Somerset council and report it? Let's hope it's been cut by your next visit Sandy and the crew

Liked: The man that worked there was livey

Disliked: the owner was un helpful and shouted at my girls when they got excited about seeing the chicken s in fact im fuming . instead of making sure we new the place and making us fill welcome .i paid someone to shout at my kids and make them cry . and my kids are not rude naughty kids they do as they are told .there where excited to get out of car and see our holiday . i will never use this again and i work in hotel so i hate complaining . but i think i deserve to say

From the manager: I did think about asking pitched up to remove this review as it is slanderous ...THERE WERE NO TEARS But I am sure normal people will see from my previous reviews I am not unfriendly and unwelcoming generally so why is this review stating I am? Could it be the fact this guest arrived hours later than expected drove past the stop sign never called the check in number, went into private residential area and let her children run into private residents gardens chasing chickens and throwing their take away down the track..... The illiteracy of the review makes for confusing reading but to sum it up, you don't want to make your children behave, think it's acceptable for them to chase animals and throw food all over the place and don't want anyone else telling your children when their behaviour is socially unacceptable.........OK To be fair after the initial nonsense you all spent 3 wonderful days drinking chatting looking at the view using all the facilities had visitors from the local town and the children chatted to me several times about the animals and the paintings around the place and I can't say the kids put a foot wrong after that, but you madam should be more embarrassed that someone else had to chastise your children but you clearly couldn't be bothered Thank you for your review though as it displays that I will not tolerate anyone chasing and upsetting any of the animals or the people living here

The Hay Field non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Very friendly welcome and lovely people that work there, very helpful and informative. Campsite had everything you needed for a short stay over. stayed in the hayfield which was quiet and had amazing views.

Disliked: Could have been extra male showers in the main shower block.

From the manager: Lovely review Thank you Totally accept the shower point ....the tiles falling off the second showers wall the weekend before the school holidays certainly upset me and i dont use them. I promise they will be repaired by the end of this week Thank you for loving the place despite the shower problem Sandy and the crew

Local attractions

Devotees of Sir Terry Pratchett’s Discworld books flock to Wincanton, not only to peruse the bits and bobs at the Discworld Emporium but also to hunt out the various tributes around the town; having been officially twinned with Ankh-Morpork, there are now several Discworld street names and a themed pub to be seen around the place. Away from the fantasy world, real-life creatures can be seen in action at the racecourse (10 minutes’ drive) or on a drive through Longleat safari park (half an hour). If it’s motors that get you going, take the 15-minute drive to the Haynes Motor Museum instead. Those with a sense of the mystic may like to peruse the famed slabs of Stonehenge (35 minutes) or head to Glastonbury Tor (45 minutes) to consider the legends that surround the ancient site. Less shrouded in mystery but still mighty pretty for a wander are the house and gorgeous gardens at National Trust-owned Stourhead (15 minutes).
