  • Semi-rural touring site 20 minutes’ drive from the A303 in Dorset
  • Only 20 minutes’ walk to Shaftesbury’s pubs, cafés and artisan shops
  • Nearly wild site with firepits to rent and wood to buy
Brickyard Farm Camping is a family-run wild site with a semi-rural vibe round about two minutes’ drive from Shaftesbury in Dorset. It’s also only 20 minutes from the A303, making a convenient stop en route to Devon and Cornwall. Welcoming families, couples and solo travellers, the spacious level meadow has mown pitches and is protected from the elements by hedges and mature trees. This campsite offers a true back-to-basics experience, with a chemical toilet disposal point only. Firepits are available to rent, and you can purchase wood on site to show the kids how to build a campfire (hopefully under a star-filled sky). Your booking here also includes free membership for the Wanderlust Camping Club, which also covers future stays at a variety of UK retreats. It’s only 20 minutes’ walk up the hill into Shaftesbury town centre, with its handy supermarkets, traditional pubs, cafés, boutiques, artisan bakeries (check out Saturday pop-up bakery at The Grosvenor Arms) and numerous antique shops. Brickyard Farm is also pretty much next-door to the Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show Field, so it’s a handy spot to pitch up when visiting one of the many annual events.

What customers say

Lovely, quiet site with helpful owners. Pitches mostly good, though some tricky turns. Basic facilities, but great views and location for exploring.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Great site, small, 3 hardstanding pitches all with electric hook up & nearby water, rubbish bins/waste water. Very pleasant & friendly family & gardening staff checked in with us. A friend stayed in the shepherd's hut a short walk away on the site - beautifully made & furnished unit.

Disliked Nothing at all.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked We loved our night stay at brick yard farm. We stayed in our motorhome and were the only van there. The bell tent and shepherds hut had people staying but they were away from us so felt like we were on our own. We walked up the road to Shaftsbury in the evening and and a really lovely time.

Liked Easy to book and great response from support

Disliked Unfortunate I had to cancel through a health issue just a few days before, and whilst the support was very considerate, as he was suffering the same issue, the owner was in no way sympathetic

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Dear Hamish,

I am so sorry you felt we were not sympathetic. We are incredibly sympathetic to the health issue, and can emphasis fully, as I am recovering from surgery, which has ment a cancelled family holiday and the loss of money because of this.

I was unfortunately only following the cancellation policy outlined on PitchUp.

“No refunds within 1 week of arrival date.

If you need to cancel or amend your booking, please give as much notice as possible so that someone else has the chance to book. You may wish to buy holiday insurance for cancellations and for your property/injury whilst away”

As you needed to cancel two days before your visit there was no refund and we were not able to fill your space.

We really do hope you are able to visit again when fully recovered. Please do get in contact at the time of booking to discuss.

Kind regards
Charlotte
