2 bedroom lodge

Liked: It was easy to find using the Google maps location provided in our confirmation email. The owner was absolutely lovely and welcoming. Car could be parked under cover right by the entrance, so unloading was nice and easy. Accommodation was clean and well kept throughout with plenty of storage, fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and beautiful views! There is plenty to do with or without children in the area, so you won't get bored. Ours also really loved the sheep in the field right next to us! Already hoping to book again to stay for a relaxing weekend away.

2 bedroom lodge

Liked: - Spotlessly clean - Well-furnished with lots of nice touches such as the washing machine, all utensils needed for cooking and cosy living room. - Spacious - Great outdoor spaces at the front and back of the lodge - Great views - Log burning stove, makes it very toasty and warm - Powerful, hot shower - WiFi - Smart TV with all apps and live TV - Lots of storage (two storage cupboards for suitcases etc) - Friendly and approachable owners with good communication - Lots of great National Trust and English Heritage sites to visit - Good location for day trips. We visited Looe, Polperro, Tintagel, Boscastle, Bude, Fowey. - Car park area under cover - Brilliant price considering the space, cleanliness and equipment all available to use.

Disliked: Everything was fantastic. Thank you for a brilliant stay!

2 bedroom lodge

Liked: The lodge was very clean and had lovely fresh decor. The very modern kitchen was fully stocked with pots and pans and all utensils needed. The wonderful new washing machine was a great bonus and meant we didn’t need to pack as many clothes. Our car was able to park right next to the lodge undercover from the elements. The view from the lodge is wonderful and you can watch the sheep. It’s really quiet and peaceful.

Disliked: The lodge was extremely small and had low ceilings. That isn’t clear from the photographs. As a family that are 6 foot it was small for us. I wouldn’t advise anyone to come who is taller than 6 foot. The lodge isn’t easy to find and satnavs get confused. Be prepared that everything you likely want to visit is about an hour drive each time due to the smaller roads and speeds.

Pondside 1 bedroom cabin

Liked: This is a very nicely decorated and well equipped lodge. No oven but we found we had enough facilities with a microwave and the hob. The small bedroom doubles as a lounge as it has a settee and tv in it. The shower is quite powerful and towels are provided. We loved walking around the pond and feeding the fish as well as seeing the sheep in the surrounding fields. The owner is very accommodating and helpful. A petite lodge but had a feeling of being away from the world and we would gladly stay again.

Local attractions

So, you want watersports? Get off to a flying start at Roadford Lake (15 minutes' drive), where there are kayaks, canoes, paddleboards and sailing boats for hire, or activities like archery and climbing onshore. Seeking out trails? Forests, tors, Bronze Age circles and valleys can be tracked down around Dartmoor National Park (20 minutes), including the long-distance Two Moors Way, Dartmoor Way or Templer Way. The coast has all sorts of activities on offer, from surfing on Bude’s beach (half an hour) and rowing on the canal to a wreck fishing trip from Boscastle harbour (40 minutes), or crabbing from the Victorian bridge in the fishing village of Looe (an hour). The crazy landscape of Tintagel Castle (50 minutes) will turn your tour of the coast into something a little more historical, with Arthurian legends swirling around Merlin’s Cave. There’s also the Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre (20 minutes) for anyone who’d like to see the rides that were used in the first incarnations of the fairground. With rainforest and Mediterranean biomes, a zipwire and a giant swing, it’s easy to see why Eden Project (50 minutes) is such a big Cornwall attraction, so get on down there too.
