Fantastic views, huge field for the kids to run around in.
Grassy pitches
Campsite overlooking the 5 acre camping / play field

  • Five-acre farm site with quiet, level-grounded dog-friendly pitches
  • A 15-minute drive from the coast; 20 minutes to Dartmoor National Park
  • Pub and small food shop within walking distance; footpaths nearby
Surfing up your street? Perhaps you have a flame for sailing, canoeing or coastal paths? A 15-minute drive away from the Devon coast and 20 minutes from Dartmoor National Park, Higher Seawardstone Farm is well-situated for making the most of the surf and sand, as well as hiking past Dartmoor’s ponies and river valleys, depending on which way you choose to go. Between Totnes and Kingsbridge or Dartmouth and Dartmoor, the pitches are in a peaceful pocket of the countryside on a five-acre farm with no road noise. The site is level-grounded and looks out over the countryside and sea, meaning you’ll be waking up to some rather splendid scenery. Dogs are welcome here, so it’s a good job that you’ll be surrounded by such quiet rural surroundings. There are many dog walks and footpaths surrounding the site. If kids want to bring their own games, a five-acre field is at their disposal. Other handy bits nearby include a small food shop and local pubs, a few minutes' drive from base. Those of you who worked up a good sweat on the footpaths or beaches will be particularly happy to find the site has an amenities block with showers and toilets. Aside from that, facilities on site include drinking water and a chemical disposal point. While there is no wifi at Higher Seawardstone Farm, there is good mobile internet coverage.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Higher Seawardstone Farm Campsite is a hidden gem nestled in a tranquil setting. The owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and made us feel at home. The campsite itself is beautifully maintained, with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The facilities are simple but everything you need and are kept impeccably clean and well-maintained. We live close by but it was the perfect escape from everyday life. If you're looking for a relaxing camping experience, we highly recommend this lovely campsite.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Plenty of space, beautiful views, clean site with nice smooth land! The views at night are beautiful. Good location, close to supermarket, pub and garage. Showers and toilets are basic but they are clean, good repair and hot! We will be back next year for a longer stay. The drive in is narrow but following directions means this is minimal, we are in a van and didn’t have an issue.

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Booked a motorhome pitch with electric. The pitch was level and the grass was nice and short, fantastic views and perfect place to watch the sunrise. The kids soon made friends with our neighbours and had a large field to run around and play until it got dark. Fantastic laid back feel, toilets/showers are basic but clean and functional. The owners were welcoming, friendly and bought one of the horses up for the kids to interact with. They loved it! we will certainly return.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Price is ok Electricity Nice view Plenty of space

Disliked: Toilet and showers very basic and rather unkempt The roads to the square are inconvenient for larger vans

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi Jasmin Weee glad you enjoyed the space and views . I did come over to see you after you’d set up to explain everything but you told me “ I know all this already “ and walked off . Your husband was busy playing football in the field with the children so I didn’t get chance to see him . The areas around the site are managed for the wildlife hence the long grass banks etc but the camping areas are mown short Maybe you were after a site with more facilities to entertain you children . I can’t see why you had trouble getting here with the small camper van unless you didn’t follow the directions? Martin & Stacey

Local attractions

Make your way over the clifftops by following the South West Coast Path (15 minutes’ drive) and plan in plenty of pitstops for Cornish cream teas as you pass by the towns. There are plenty of coastal locations that will break up any hike or coastal drive with watersports or boat trips, such as Blackpool Sands (15 minutes) or Dartmouth (20 minutes). While you’re in Dartmouth, you’ll get to tick off Dartmouth Castle. Walk in the footsteps of former soldiers and Victorian workers as you explore the battery passageways and the gun tower. But where else must you tick off your Devon bucket list? Paignton (half an hour) has beaches, a pier, a geopark and the Paignton Zoo Environmental Park (half an hour). Dartmoor National Park (20 minutes) has gorgeous landscapes and hikes galore, of course, including the Dartmoor Way heritage trail. Then, there’s the family-friendly theme park at Woodlands Leisure Park (10 minutes) or the National Trust’s Overbeck's (half an hour), which was once the home of inventor Otto Overbeck, left to visit too - and they're both well worth the visit.
