  • Adults-only farm site 10 minutes from English Riviera beaches
  • Outdoor haven: trails, tors and moors of Dartmoor within 30 minutes
  • Minibus service and fully licensed restaurant and bar on site
When the choice between beachy hols on the English Riviera and lush wanders in stunningly scenic national parks leaves you dithering, make your decision a doddle with a stay at Widdicombe Farm Touring Park, a family-run and adults-only site 10 minutes’ drive from the seaside town of Paignton on the Devon coast. The site's about 15 minutes from the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and half an hour from Dartmoor National Park, so there are plenty of spectacularly green vistas to hike, bike or drive through within easy reach – not to mention waterfalls, river banks and craggy moors... If the first thing into your suitcase was a swimming cossie, you’ve packed well for this particular getaway: Paignton’s Preston Sands beach is less than 10 minutes away (there’s a shuttle service from the site). If your quick sandy stroll seems to be picking up speed, turn it into a long-distance jaunt by accessing up the South West Coast Path at either end of the beach. There’s a small shop on site for groceries if you fancy bringing picnic supplies on your day trips, or you can hold off for a home-cooked dinner at Poppies, the on-site restaurant (open from Easter to September). After that, wander over to Gordon’s bar for a drink, or to take in the live entertainment.

Liked Pub & Restaurant being on site. Helpful friendly staff. Clean facilities too.

Disliked Pitch was a little small to fit car, caravan & awning on & a little tight to manoeuvre.
Also the extra charge for an awning is a little off putting. If you book a pitch most sites don’t charge extra. Some sites charge for full awning but not a porch awning like ours but don’t entirely agree with that either. Charges for shuttle bus too expensive too. Also extra charges for WiFi excessive

Liked Fantastically run well organised friendly site,
Facilities very clean and no press button shower which was amazing. Food was lovely from the little restaurant and the BQ and also the breakfast man. Entertainment every night so take some cash with you. Dog field was great dogs loved it also there's a nice stroll down the bridle path to the village pub. Pitchs nice size your not on top of anyone else. There is also a shuttle bus that will take you to Torquay and Paignton if there is enough to fill the bus, brilliant idea. All in all can not fault this campsite.

Disliked Nothing

From the manager: Superb review, thank you. We have all been having a cracking bank holiday weekend and have enjoyed the company of so many lovely guests. It's great to hear we've been able to provide you with a fantastic break and i'll make sure all the team know you have enjoyed and appreciated their efforts. See you again sometime.

Disliked road noise from A380 and touchy ANPR entry camera

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: We have so much to offer and you have enjoyed much of it which we would hope would out weigh any negatives. The ANPR can be sensitive to some registrations but it is a necessary system to help maintain park security. There is always someone around to assist outside of office hours. Security of our guests and their property is important to us so apologies if it was being a little temperamental with your vehicle registration.

Nice stay, would definitely return.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked Lovely location, staff friendly, excellent pitches, adults only, showers were fabulous and spotlessly clean. Good, reasonably priced food from onsite eatery. Good onsite bar also.

Disliked A380 close/a bit noisy and getting on to road from site is tricky.
Onsite bar only open sporadically.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Very pleased to see you liked so much about us. The only reason the bar wasn't open every night was only due to lack of demand in low season. Weekend opening wasn't affected. There are obvious advantages to no narrow lanes but yes you just have to be a little patient on exiting from Widdicombe Lane onto the main road. So glad that overall you enjoyed your time and and we're very pleased to note you will return. We shall look forward to seeing you.

Liked Lovely place to stay staff were great the ladies in reception so helpful and everything done with a smile and a laugh mini bus a great extra at little cost

Disliked Would have loved to use the bar but no dogs which I totally understand as only so much space and as it rained most of the time we were there we could not sit out perhaps next time 🥰

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We strive to give all our guests a good time here and we're delighted you have had a positive experience. We do have a covered seating area immediately outside the bar so yes, perhaps next time.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked Fantastic camp site. Probably one of the best sites I’ve stayed at in thirty years of camping. Excellent facilities, large pitch, spotless showers and toilets. On site restaurant and bar, although the bar didn’t open until a few days after my visit. Nearest bus stop about three quarters of a mile away along a pleasant bridle path. I did walk into Paignton and Torquay, but probably a bit too far for young children or the elderly.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review. It is very pleasing knowing we have met your expectations and that you have had a good time here with us. Until the next time...... make it when the bar is open as we had a blast over the Easter weekend.

Local attractions

This is Agatha Christie country, so if you’re looking to solve the mystery of what to do during your hols, you're sorted here too. Make your way into Torquay a 15-minute drive away for the Agatha Christie Mile – a walking tour of spots that inspired the author – and Kents Cavern, a prehistoric cave that served as Hampsley Cavern in her novel The Man in the Brown Suit. For a glimpse of Christie’s personal life, Greenway House at Brixham is where she spent summer and Christmas hols. If Greenway House whet your appetite for stately homes, zip along to Compton Castle (five minutes) for house and garden tours, or Cockington Country Park (10 minutes) for strolls around the extensive grounds and a glimpse of Cockington Court (now a craft centre). Not enough? Venture further afield for Coleton Fishacre, Buckfast Abbey and the 16-sided A la Ronde, all within 35 minutes. There are plenty of museums, steam trains and model villages nearby to keep history buffs entertained, but those who prefer more of a living and breathing experience should pad over to Paignton Zoo (within 15 minutes) instead.
