  • Back to basics family- and pet-friendly site just off the A3072
  • A 15-minute drive from the surfing beaches and shops of Bude
  • Farm animals; craft class and dog grooming subject to availability
If you're seeking a Devon family getaway with easy access to Cornwall too, then Noteworthy Farm is in a fab location, about 10 minutes' drive away from Holsworthy and 15 minutes from Bude's beaches and sea pool. Running alongside the A3072, the site has good road access and is easy to find. The site falls within Devon’s Ruby Country (named for the area’s distinctive Ruby cattle), and it's got rural views all around. When you’re ready to venture out for strolls with sea views, get in the car and travel the seven miles to Bude to join the South West Coast Path, trekking the 10 miles to Crackington Haven or, in the other direction, the 15 to Hartland Quay. If you decide not to venture off from Noteworthy Farm during your stay, you have the chance to visit farm animals such as Angora goats, miniature horses, ducks and chickens. There is also an outdoor children's play area, as well as a wildlife pond where fishing is possible. On occasion, there will be craft workshops where guests can book to learn how to spin yarn, needle felt or have a go at continuous weaving (all at an extra cost and by prior arrangement). Pooch in need of a pamper after a long day of walking? There is a dog groomer on site, subject to availability and charged separately. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, head into Holsworthy to the local pubs or towards the coast for some local cuisine, or set that barbecue smouldering to eat outdoors. There are picnic benches at the pitches to give you somewhere comfy to serve up your meals.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Great site with children’s playground and lots of open spaces for the kids to play. Shower facilities are very clean and well maintained. The on site cafe serves some lovely food all cooked fresh to order and all the family who run the site are so friendly and welcoming. The onsite fishing pond is an added bonus and great for relaxing days. The kids loved visiting the angora goats that live on the site. The site is a short drive to beaches, lakes and places of interest making it a perfect stay.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Very friendly hosts. They were visible at the site and available for feedback or just a chat. The pitches were large and the view over the valley and sunsets gorgeous. The sanitary buildings were clean. The play area was fun and interesting enough to entertain our kids (4 and 6). And the goats are adorable.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: We had a warm welcome on arrival and the pitch size was really generous so happy with that. There was also a picnic bench which was handy. The grounds are kept clean and tidy and very kid friendly with a nice playground. The showers and toilets are spotless. I love the chickens roaming around free. I would definitely go back. Also only 16 minutes drive to the beaches. The breakfast baps are amazing and they use there own eggs too.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Great welcome and fantastic site. Generous pitch, with much appreciated picnic bench, and lovely location. Facilities were all you could want, didn't use the showers, but looked clean and based on rest of site sure they would have been just right. Nice location, short trip to Bude/coast, but Holsworthy handy with Waitrose for holiday treats. Nice pub just down the road as well

Disliked: Some minor noise from road, but not a problem (birds were almost as loud in the morning!).

Local attractions

The seaside resort town of Bude should be your first stop during your hols. As well as being a top surfing destination, it’s got plenty for those more comfortable on dry land: straddle the divide with some beach days, wander over to the castle, or meander along the Bude canal towpaths. Sticking to the coast, the stunning village of Clovelly (half an hour away) is an absolute must: it’s privately owned, car-free and practically begging to be photographed, so make haste with camera in hand. Treat the kids to stops at the nearby Milky Way or Big Sheep family amusement parks, then drag them to experience some vintage vibes with a day among the merry go rounds, dodgems and traditional games at Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre, half an hour from the site. If you want to get some clean country air into those lungs, you’re 45 minutes from the edge of Dartmoor National Park and RHS Garden Rosemoor is within half an hour. A little further afield, try the Eden Project (an hour away) and the Lost Gardens of Heligan (an hour and 20 minutes).
