What customers say
A chilled, scenic spot with great hosts. Showers cost extra & parking's a bit of a trek. Pitches can be uneven, and you might hear some night critters.

Disliked Small walk down a slope to our pitch.

Sturdy walking boots are mandatory to safely walk the steep ups&downs.
Electric optional grass tent pitch (XL)
Liked Stunning Scenery:
Incredible views of the cliffs and mountains💓
Peaceful Vibe: Total quiet and relaxation.
Local Wildlife: Visited by charming goats and birds.
Great Host: Caron was exceptionally friendly and helpful🙏🫠.
Disliked The Challenges
Poor Pitch Setup: Pitch 1 was uneven, which led to a very wet camping experience.
Hazardous Walkway: The path from Pitch 1 to the toilets and car park was risky and steep.
Injury: Slips on the uneven ground resulted in a sprained ankle 😩

Peaceful and secluded, unsuitable for families and very basic.
Electric optional grass tent pitch (secluded)
Liked Peaceful and secluded, Combe Martin itself is lovely.
Disliked Too far from the sea and outside Combe Martin, only a distant view of the sea. Set on a steep hillside on a small site, no area for children to play, not able to walk anywhere directly from campsite. Pitch too small and not very flat. Paid for a gazebo but wasn't the space to put it in front of tent, and could only go on uneven ground in a field gateway. Minimal facilities on campsite. Unable to walk anywhere from campsite. Steep busy road with no pavement.

Thank you for your feedback, and I would like to address the points you have raised clearly and fairly.
Firstly, we applied a significant discount to your booking, as we understood only your mother would be staying in the house, rather than the full party. This was a gesture we made to be helpful and fair.
We have a clear, published policy that we do not accept children when the house is booked out, and this is stated openly. During your stay, we found that delicate and personal items had been handled throughout the property — items not intended to be played with. On your departure, we noticed that facilities had been left in a condition that was not up to the standard we expect or that we provide to other guests. This reinforces exactly why we have our policies in place — to protect our property and ensure good standards for everyone. Of course, we accept that anyone could have been responsible, but the outcome was the same regardless.
You mentioned the gazebo was set up incorrectly — however I visited the area myself while you were here and saw it was properly and securely erected, so this was not the case.
Regarding the points about facilities and the engineer: during your stay we had two unplanned power cuts overnight. These affected the whole of Combe Martin — every property in the area had exactly the same issue — and were completely out of our control.
Our emergency lighting and support systems activate automatically in these situations — this is because we live on‑site and care for a vulnerable family member, so safety is always our highest priority, and our systems work exactly as they are designed to. The engineer attended at 8am, which is outside of our control, and as soon as power was restored our team worked straight away to reset everything, ensuring you had full hot water and facilities for the rest of your stay.
We also noticed that you used the house shower facilities. Our booking terms clearly state that hot showers are available at a small additional charge of £2 per use — we keep our base prices lower than most local sites precisely because we do not bundle in costs for facilities guests may not need. It was disappointing that this part of our agreed terms was not followed.
Finally, we want to be clear about what we offer: as listed on our Pitchup page, this is a quiet, peaceful campsite. We do not have a clubhouse, play equipment or organised entertainment — our guests choose us for space, calm and relaxation, and we have many happy returning visitors. We expect parents to supervise and entertain their own children, as is standard across most small, rural sites.
We always aim to do our very best for every guest, and we are sorry your experience did not meet your expectations. Many of the issues you mention were either completely out of our control, or are clearly explained in our booking information and site description. We hope this helps clarify our position.

Electric optional grass tent pitch (small)
Liked The most insane views and quietest area, was the first holiday for me and my boyfriend by ourselves and was so perfect for actually relaxing and having a BREAK, such sweet people with a beautiful land and view to go up to. The sheep were awesome neighbours and would come up to our tent which was adorable, and having wolves howling as an alarm was definitely an experience in itself😂 could not recommend enough for a cheap and peaceful trip away!!

We loved our stay at Guyscliffe…
Electric optional grass tent pitch (XL)
Liked We loved our stay at Guyscliffe Farm. It was very peaceful with beautiful views, just a short drive down into Combe Martin. As there are only a few pitches, it felt very calm. Caron and Tony were very friendly and the facilities were good. We were even able to charge our car overnight which was really useful!
Disliked We could hear the animals from the Wildlife Park nearby on several occasions during the night, which can be a little eerie if you don’t know what it is!

Disliked Niemand bij de receptie, sanitair zag er niet goed uit. Plekken waren schuin en klein. Het lag erg afgelegen

From the manager: I am responding to your review as I feel it does not give an accurate or fair reflection of our site. To be clear: you never actually visited or came to the campsite at all, while we were here on-site all day and present throughout.
As you were not here, you haven’t seen our facilities, how we run things, or experienced our service first-hand — so you are commenting on things you haven’t actually seen or been part of. We always take great care with our guests and work hard to maintain good standards, so it is disappointing to receive feedback from someone who never actually came to the site. We believe reviews work best when they come from people who have stayed or visited, as that is the only way to give a true picture of what we offer.
Get away from it all - bit like wild camping with amenities

Thank you for lovely review
If you would like to stay again try the secluded pitch where you can park near and it is the biggest pitch which could fit two big tents :) you would be very welcome back
