  • Peaceful park in a sheltered valley and wildlife haven
  • Two miles from Truro and 10 minutes' drive from sandy beaches
  • Spotless facilities, playground and guest lounge
Summer Valley Touring Park is a peaceful and private park, in a cocoon of trees two miles to the north of Truro, and in a south-facing sheltered valley in peaceful Cornish countryside and a wildlife haven. It's centrally located within Cornwall: the north coast and beaches are 10 minutes' drive away and the south coast within 20. The south-facing pitches have lush views over meadows and woodland, and there’s a smart service area, an adventure playground, a food shop and a heated facilities block with guest lounge and free wifi The site is small (three acres) and family-owned, so holidaymakers can expect good service, a warm welcome and a relaxed environment. There’s a pub half a mile away in the village of Shortlanesend, or guests can make their way the two miles into Truro for lots more shops, restaurants and services. Grab your bucket and spade and hit the miles of silky sand at Perranporth, six miles away.

What customers say

Peaceful, well-kept site, spacious pitches, great facilities. Owners helpful. Cornwall access good. Narrow lane, slight slope noted. Dog field overgrowth, curfew issues some mention. One very negative review uncorroborated.

Electric grass pitch (large)

Liked Nothing reception rude they buy crisps in 6 packs and sell single for £2.50.. My husband bought 4 cans of coke charged just under £9.00 charge you for a kids meal of mash potato and peas with curry £8.00 but the owners can't afford a scooter and their tramp kids stole my autistic sons scooter. Not only that assaulted him to the point a mother of 2 autistic children told them to leave him alone. Another time my husband found the dirty tramps on top of my son 5 of them holding him down and and trying to break his toys. Complained to the office asked if they could check their camaras was told they would get back to me of course they didn't as it was owners children they kicked balls at our tent punched our tent to make our assistance dog bark.. Can charge people the earth for drinks and food but can't afford a scooter for their bullying trampy children didn't want to give us the refund back for our last 4 nights so the money you are keeping from us keep it and remember we bought your kid a scooter cause you couldn't with the all the expensive money your charging for can of coke and we got pictures to show of the owners kids riflling through bins and takeing what people are throwing away. They have people details while we were packing our car to leave as we had to because our tent ripped with the wind we were told argue the toss with pitch up as you paid through a 3rd party but other people who have gone off site their tents are ripped to pieces but they don't know yet but a decent person would contact the people to let them know to come back and try and save it seeing as children have to sleep in them but these people couldn't give a crap they got your money so basically deal with it I have been booking campsites with pitch up since 2019 never experienced this behaviour from a campsite in my life so if you don't want your kids beat up or any toys you buy them not to be broken or your kids scooters or bikes stolen avoid this shit hole I would rather go and stay on a traveller site than that campsite the dirty owner didn't even have the decency to bring my sons scooter back got another worker to do it yeah so you should you nasty person and to see what the owner lives in and the ground full of everyone's rubbish her kids steal out the bins

Disliked Everything nasty place to stay I wouldn't put my horse on their field

Electric grass pitch

Liked Fantastic site. Well maintained, friendly owners. Not overcrowded and a relaxed atmosphere.
The pitch itself was a great size, we had two cars, a large 8 man tent and a pop up gazebo. We stayed for 10 nights and could have easily stayed for longer! The facilities block was close by, toilets and showers, as well as 4 washing up points. This area was deep cleaned everyday.
There was a small shop on site and a play area for children.
The city of Truro was a 10 minute drive and there were plenty of supermarkets to choose from for stocking up on essentials.
Lots of attractions were within 15 minutes to 1 hour away in the car. Really good central location for exploring Cornwall.
WiFi was ok, but we did use our own as it could be a bit slow.

Disliked Nothing.

Electric grass pitch

Liked We absolutely loved our stay at Summer Valley Touring Park over the last couple of weeks. We were welcomed so warmly
and shown to our pitch, we were given all the details and could pitch however we wanted!
The pitches are on a slight hill (we knew this before arriving due to other reviews) however we easily leveled our caravan no problem and could get set up fully.
The owners were so lovely
and extremely accommodating to all guests.
The facilities were great, looked after and clean!
There was a Cornwall street food vendor that came during our stay too which was a nice touch to people who ate from them.
The location of the site in Truro is perfect and everywhere is easily accessible. Not only this, but the streets to the site itself were great and perfect whilst towing a caravan, no narrow country lanes on the journey there.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and 100% recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Cornwall!

Local attractions

It’s less than half an hour to either Springfield Farm Park and Pony Centre – which, on top of all the equine excitement, has a huge indoor play barn and a variety of outdoor fun – or the penguins, parrots and otter antics at Paradise Park and JungleBarn Cornwall. For more relaxed entertainment, head to the heavenly biomes of the Eden Project or take a wander around the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Drama queens shouldn’t miss the opportunity to take in an open-air performance in the jaw-dropping setting of the Minack Theatre. The lovely St Ives is another great place for a day out, with oodles of art at Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden as well as some great beaches, coast walks and boat trips.
