Liked: The campsite offers clean, MANY newly renovated toilets, showers, a comfortable pretty seating area, and a well-stocked bar, food and really great live music with events like silent disco etc. washing up a fridges + freezer, many sinks water points etc, it allows fire pits etc
Disliked: Class A drugs, Groups of people, When we arrived, we noticed a few groups of people around the site, including a mixed wedding party that we pitched our tent away from. On our final evening, however, a medium-sized group of men arrived and started using various Class A drugs, including cocaine and ketamine, and many that I have not heard of before. I know this because they kept me awake all night with their 'trip' music and detailed descriptions of each person's experience with the drugs. While it’s not my business what others do, it became unavoidable as they chose to camp next to our small family tent despite two large fields being available. It’s expected to find people smoking weed and other substances if you look for it, but this was BRAZEN use of MANY Class A drugs then urinating over the near area. I became concerned for the safety of my two children around midnight, worried that someone might have a bad trip and do something dangerous. If large groups were kept away from families, it would make more sense, especially during school holidays. I understand the need to accommodate different guests for financial reasons, but allowing a group of men celebrating a 40th birthday on a Class A drug binge next to families with children seems extremely careless. Additionally, I now will likely have to discard our tent after hearing them urinate around it, as I don’t want to likely clean drug-contaminated urine off it. Here are some of the highlights of the class A drug medley spoken as clear as if it was the said in the same room: "The guy whose birthday it was told everyone he couldn’t stop drinking alcohol and had tried many times to give it up, and the guy dealing the drugs to the birthday boy mentioned using this ketamine to get off alcohol; it's the only way. "i can see squares everything is squares" "its like a rollercoaster the ups then the downs" "i'm going to CUM" everytime while pissing all over the camping field "this tent is like a funnel i can hear you all from miles away" "if i take this will i come back is it safe" "don’t fight the feeling just lie and let it flow over you" "do you want any, no i don’t want to fail the drugs test, a mate failed just for vaping it's not worth it." The Class A drug-taking went on until around 3 am. The last guy was like, when I came down from my trip, everyone had gone to bed; did I do something wrong? It is possible you might have a good time; we did until the last "3rd night". It looks to me like it's a regular thing, if A DRUG TENT is not near, you might be okay. I also think that the owners would come down on groups if they could but unwillingly compromise to keep the place going in the presented way: looking good with live music" thats not going to be cheap as it was not packed with familys during the school holidays, it was not like a feastival with people drug taking the dudes did not appear back until way after the music had finished Why not leave if it was so bad... I literally started slowly packing everything up at 4 in the morning and left around 7 as I did not want to wait for the drug dealer to return he left at some point but was going to return the next day and "start bleeching the drug tent" in his worlds. Why did I not call the police or contact someone on site... although we have been camping many times over the last few years, fear in a strage place with kids no one really about once the entertainment closes and what if THEY KNOW + would have had to leave the kids alone etc to try and find someone which was doubtfull at 1-2am, i had to pack the gear away and i dont know what would have happend calling police, best to wait it out and leave then forget it and move on. you have been warned, maybe it was just unlucky with the class A DRUGS DUDES, but any dudes in a medium group near familys is not right on a family friendly site, finally it was VERY WINDY.

From the manager: Hi Sarah, Thank-you for taking the time to leave a review. All reviews whether they be complimentary or constructive help us to identify areas that are working well and any aspects that require our attention. I really wish that you had either called us during the night or even on your return home so that we could have identified the group and prevented them from returning to Anchor Barrow. As a parent myself of two small children I would have wanted to ensure that no other families were exposed to this. We have a 24 hour phone line dedicated to assist any campers in an emergency or dealing with unfortunate neighbours. There are signs explaining this around the campsite. We have increased the amount of the signs in hope to encourage our campers to use them and prevent other campers from suffering in silence. My husband and I and our two small children move up to the site every year to ensure that we can offer this service. Given how busy the site was that weekend I am surprised that we didn't receive complaints from anyone else on the site given the extreme nature of events that you describe. I can only apologise for your unfortunate neighbours and can only reassure you that we have never had a situation like this occur at Anchor Barrow before. I hope that once you have allowed time for the dust to settle you will consider this an unfortunate event and not something that as a campsite we could have predicted or have prevented. However, this is something that we wholeheartedly wish that we could have had the opportunity to address not only for you and your family's stay but for the experience of future campers.
Fantastic.

Liked: Anchor Barrow was a brilliant campsite for the second part of our Cornwall summer holiday. The staff were very friendly, helpful, great with kids and the site facilities were excellent. The showers and toilets were clean and the electric pitches well sized. We enjoyed the entertainment and found ordering meat from the family butcher an excellent option and the breakfasts were brilliant and good value. The kids really enjoyed the various activities around the site such as the scavenger hunt. Great view as well!

Liked: Good clean facilities, large barn to sit in out of the weather. Football field great for my son, dog walking field great for the dog. Friendly and helpful staff. Delicious breakfast!
Disliked: The road is a bit noisy but we slept well. A shelf in the shower cubicles maybe as I was desperately trying not to get any clothes wetter. The weather! The walk back from the beach is quite tough with a lot of things...surf boards etc.
