Anyone having a hol in Cornwall at any time should pitch up near Newquay at some point: for famed surfing beaches, lively vibe, Newquay Zoo, the Blue Reef Aquarium… and easy access to the rest of the north Cornish coast as well as the beaches down south. And if you're looking for a family base within walking distance of Newquay? Pitch up at popular and friendly Trencreek Holiday Park, owned and run in the quiet village of Trencreek by the same family for over 60 years. This pretty and well-maintained park is a mere mile from Newquay town centre and on a regular bus route, passing tennis courts, swimming pools and Newquay Zoo on the way into town. Trencreek is a family and couples-only holiday park, where the family team here make their mission to provide a welcoming vibe and to keep all amenities to spotless standards. Everything's kept secure here: access is by car number plate recognition barriers, so only those booked on site are allowed in. Spend your days lazing by the heated outdoor pool or casting off – for free – in the coarse fishing ponds, or let the kids loose at the play area, sandpit and games room. By night, you could settle down for a barbecue by your pitch: an excellently-stocked shop is on site, a farm shop is within five minutes' walk and a supermarket is a mile away.

Short stays electric grass pitch

Liked: Absolutely fantastic site to stay at. Location is perfect, Morrisons,Lidl & Macdonalds a ten minute walk away. Newquay is only a mile away too. The site is very peaceful and has everything you need, a take away, amusements,shop and an outdoor heated swimming pool. The facilities are great and getting water and cleaning cassette all very easy, and the lovely lady in reception is smashing and very helpful. We loved this site and will definitely come back. The perfect place to stay. Pitches are a good size and the seagulls are very entertaining!

Liked: Staff were really polite and supportive . Grass was kept really short which helped with wet days . Toilets and showers clean Very fair price for a week stay .

Disliked: Dated showers and toilets . Little water at sinks .

Liked: I loved the location of the campsite, it’s like a 20-30 minute walk to the town which on a lovely day it’s a perfect walk and if you do it a couple of times then it’s pretty straight forward. The entertainment was really good as well, we loved the pool table. We also enjoyed the pool on the days we went wasn’t exactly warm but the pool wasn’t too cold which made it better. All in all had a lovely stay there, would definitely come again

Disliked: The only part that wasn’t ideal, was we had a large group of noisy adults behind us which kept us up untill 2-3 am in the morning and we asked them really nicely if they would turn it down and they did not. But in the morning we explained to the reception and they were really understanding about the situation and offered to move us further away from them, so we did.

Liked: We liked the stay really much. There's everything you need at the park. You have a shop, laundrette, cafe, pub, outside swimming pool, games room, pool table, so even if the weather is bad, there's stuff to do there. Very friendly stuff in all of the amenities. Recommended

Disliked: The only thing I would say would be the toilets/showers are a bit dated and that makes them look not clean. It's OK, but could be better. But still perfectly fine.

Liked: loved the fact they could accommodate 2 family's on pitches next to each other on arrival friendly staff at reception very welcoming and welcome pack with local attraction and activities very much helped us navigate an eventful time nice level pitches kept grass clean many thank you sent from us to the cleaners and care takes of the site keeping up checks and maintaince all the time lots to do for the kids aswell as the adults on site pool looked lovely but we never got a chance to use as we were busy throughout our time onsite laundrettes and shop as well as play park and arcade the kids loved toilet and shower block facility's constantly being kept tidy and easy access kids loved the fish ponds and seeing the ducks each morning carnt wait to come again

Local attractions

Set off on foot or take the local bus for the mile-long journey into Newquay, one of the most famed spots in all the country for surfing and surf schools as well as the surfing tournaments at Fistral beach. Loads of other Newquay options await if the thought of boards bores you: have a potter around the zoo or aquarium, bask on some of the seven miles of golden sandy beach, or take the Newquay Discovery Trail on a gentle meander through town. The South West Coast Path runs through town too on its 603-mile meander from Minehead to Poole; there's an easy trail of less than a mile to Bedruthan Steps if you want to tackle the path with the kids. Just outside Newquay, Trenance Gardens and Leisure Park is a spectacular spot for a family day out, with Trenance Leisure Park and skate park, a boating lake and pedalo hire, and peaceful times afterwards among the trees, flowers and rose bushes of Trenance Gardens. The park is 10 minutes' walk from Trencreek. For day trips, try Truro (25 minutes' drive), Padstow (30 minutes), the Eden Project (35 minutes) and the National Maritime Museum at Falmouth (50 minutes).
