  • Lively family park five minutes' drive from the coast at Looe
  • Huge range of facilities including cabaret room, bar, diner and café
  • Indoor pool, toddlers' pool, swim lessons, sports room and shop
‘We’re all going on a summer holiday…’ And a spring, autumn and, er, winter one too… At Tencreek Holiday Park, the nearest park to lovely Looe in Cornwall, you and the family can arrive in all seasons as a base for the best of south-east Cornwall and Devon, or just stay on site to spoil yourselves silly with the lashings of facilities and entertainment for all ages. And the views are pretty tenfastic too… Tencreek is aimed at families and couples, and as such has any number of tiptop things to try: a kids’ club just for starters, and an adventure playground and sports pitch for small sorts to whirl around outside. More grownuply, the park also has the Castaway entertainment complex with large cabaret room, bar, Deano’s Diner and indoor sports room with darts and pool; there's also family entertainment every night from the Yellow Coats and Tencreek mascots. Don’t forget the dog either: the park is dog friendly and has a dog walking area with access to the public footpath. If it rains, the kids won’t even notice once you get them to the heated indoor pool and toddlers’ pool, which are also open all year and free to use (there are classes such as Aquafit and kids’ swimming lessons available at a small additional charge). The thoughtful folk at Tencreek have ensured that the pool is always lifeguarded, and there are even adults-only sessions at times, if you can manage to get the kids dried off and packed off for a bit… The park also has a fully-stocked food shop, a café with takeaway and a modern laundry.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch (maximum 8 metres)

Liked: The site was clean and tidy and the pitch we had, had an amazing view. Toilets and showers were very clean. Reception staff were friendly and helpful.

Disliked: WiFi on the pitches is not free, it's only free in the clubhouse. If you want WiFi on your pitch you have to pay extra which we refused to do as should be in with the price like most over sites. I've never had this as an extra charge before. I wanted to do some washing but needed change for the machine. The signs say change can be got in the shop, which is not open all day. However tried this and was told only the clubhouse can give change. That doesn't open until 5 though. Went in there at 5 and the barmaid wasn't allowed to give cashback but she did point me to a change machine the games room so managed to get changed eventually.

Liked: Nice site with good facilities. Lovely walk into Looe town and Talland Bay.

Disliked: Someone on our pitch on arrival. Given another pitch and then next day a campervan turnt up and told us we were on their pitch. Admininatration of pitches terribly. I had 2 go to reception three times to sort issues out.

Electric grass pitch (maximum 6 metres)

Liked: Friendly on reception

Disliked: Toilets and showers were disgusting. There was tissues with poo on all over the floor in multiple toilets. No toilet roll in any of the toilets as it had all ran out for both male and female. I visited at 10:30 at night then at 8am so they had been cleaned within this period ( probably a long time before 10:30 as well). I’m not a clean freak but these were vile. I had stayed in somewhere earlier in the week that looked like a scout hut in a field and I set the bar low with that as I was fine with those. I’d had complained if I was staying there longer than one night.

Liked: Location was perfect. The facilities were also good if only they had been treated with respect but that's only the people that use them and not the sites fault. Well stocked shop. Didn't use the pool so can't comment.

Disliked: Site was tired and scruffy and pitches were quite muddy.

Electric grass pitch (maximum 6 metres)

Liked: Pitches well spaced, shower and toilet block immaculate.

Disliked: Ate in the bar, disappointing food although edible I wouldn't recommend. The lasagne looked like it had just been taken out of a packet and put into a dish after being heated up- I understand the products you use are more than likely bought in but put some effort into it being plated up.

Liked: Very clean site , ideal for a walk to Looe , wouldnt suggest the walk back but taxis and bus are frequent, nice little shop with every you could possibly need , atmospheric club house cant beat a good old game of bingo and a general knowledge quiz , only one gripe no hot water in the dish washing part of toilet block but toilets and showers were spotless all in all a nice camp site not sure what it would be like with kids running all over the place it was.mostly adults when we were there , see.you soon

Disliked: Cold water in wash up area

Local attractions

Oodles of activities and attractions await once you’ve dragged yourself off site: pootle around Looe’s Harbour Quay, Banjo Pier and the 16th-century Old Guildhall in East Looe, or take a boat to Looe (St George’s) Island, where just once a year on a very low tide it’s possible to stroll to it across the sand. Sea-based sightseers can go from Looe to Fowey and take the ferry to Polruan or Bodinnick and the former house of Daphne du Maurier (Daphne and Rebecca fans can also go ghost hunting at Cornwall’s legendary coaching house at Bodmin Moor, said to be the county’s most famous smuggling inn). Most day trippers take a car for the 12-mile Looe-Fowey journey, but if you’re feeling energetic enough and want to see some stunning coastal scenery, the local South West Coast Path hike goes from West Looe to Polruan via Hannafore, Talland Bay and Polperro. You officially have full permission to get a bus or taxi back…
