Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Showers ok.

Disliked: Electric too expensive used £3 in an hour, only boiled kettle twice and had tv and fridge on for an hour and Electric ran out, mentioned to owners not interested said that's how much it costs!! Entrance could do with being looked at too steep to turn into, had to turn around up the road to prevent motorhome from grounding... loads of marks on the road when turning in. Pitches suitable for short vehicles not long enough.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Friendly staff, restaurant,

Disliked: Having to pay so much for electric, £9 for 3 nights to run Fridge lights and TV . Toilet cubicles even though absolutely spotless (this I give marks out of 10 A 10) but size of shower cubicle very small. and the burst of freezing cold water straight onto you before warm water came through not pleasant.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: The views from this site are amazing, the lawns are well kept and the site at first impression is very good We did not eat at the restaurant as it closed at 4pm,

Disliked: The showers are a nightmare, the shower head is fixed and it aims straight at the door soaking everything, the water wasn’t hot, overall the worst shower I have ever encountered, it looks fantastic, which is the overall problem with this site, looks amazing but doesn’t deliver Your electric is pay by meter and at least twice the average price There’s no dog walking area

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Lovely campsite with nice level pitches. The facilities were very clean. We liked the system for paying for electricity; the minimum charge of £3 was adequate for our 8 night stay. WiFi was sufficient for our needs. We enjoyed having a nice restaurant on site, however we did have to sit in the undercover outdoor area as dogs are not allowed inside the restaurant. I had to change the dates of our original booking, and there was no difficulty about that. Short, but very steep, walk down into Callington (about 20 minutes down and 30 back up!)

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Very clean site with grass cut regularly. Good level pitches with view out over Callington and all the way to Caradon Hill and beyond, but not as claimed by the site over Plymouth, that is around the other side of Kit Hill. Excellent restaurant and toilet block, and the most impressive Elsan disposal point I have ever seen.

Disliked: Firstly, the electric is metered separately and is, by my reckoning, overcharged. We were supposedly using 6kW/Hrs over around a 16 hour period, powering just a fridge, LED lighting and a 12v TV for a couple of hours. I only use 10kW/Hrs in a 24hr period running lighting, phones, computers and machinery at my business! It always ran out by mid morning leaving us on gas. Secondly, whilst the toilet and shower cubicles were immaculate and very impressive, the shower heads are fixed and aimed straight at the door, meaning that as soon as you hit the button to warm it up, you and the floor are deluged in cold water. This is then compounded when you get in as you are soaked from head to foot immediately with no control over temperature, direction or flow rate so your hair gets soaked whether you want it to be or not. We used our own shower after that.

Liked: Very friendly check in. The site was spotlessly clean with amazing shower facilities, even the washing up area was spotless. Total peace and quiet with stunning views

Disliked: Paying for electric on a top up basis and not being able to get a refund for the electric which wasn't used.

Local attractions

See the sights of Cornwall, west Devon, Plymouth and Dartmoor with royal ease from Compton Park via the easily accessible A38 and A30 roads or by taking a train from Gunnislake two miles away along the Tamar Valley line to the Bere Peninsula and Plymouth. On foot, stride among the scenery, wildlife and mines of Kit Hill Country Park: climb to the stack at the top of the hill for spectacular views over Bodmin Moor. Go east for 386 square miles of walking, climbing or cantering at Dartmoor, and south-east to Plymouth for fathoms' worth of maritime heritage including the National Marine Aquarium and famed Plymouth Hoe. To the north and south, days (weeks?) of splashing can be had at Cornwall's safe and clean family beaches and at the watersports activities of Roadford and Siblyback lakes. Make for award-winning Morwellham Quay on the Tamar for more mining history, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site covering the industrial heritage of Cornwall and Devon. If historic houses are more your heritage thing, both counties come with heaps of heritage buildings and gardens including lovely Lanhydrock at Bodmin and 700 year old Buckland Abbey at Yelverton. For smalls, the Tamar Valley Donkey Park and play barn or a puff on the steam railways at Launceston and Bodmin should see them sorted, while family days out at the lush Eden Project are about 45 minutes' drive away.
