General

  • Family and couples' site on the Devon/Cornwall border
  • A mile and a half from Bude and its beaches
  • Fishing, golf, sports barn, farmyard animals and nature trails

'In the countryside, by the sea' is how the Colwill clan describe their site Wooda Farm Holiday Park on the Devon/Cornwall border, which will sound pretty perfect to peeps who dither between both as a location for their hols…

Wooda is a park for families and couples, run by the Colwills since 1975, with lush views of the Cornish coastline and the countryside, and loads to do for time spent on site, like a fishing lake, pitch and putt, a sports barn with fitness suite and badminton, and activities like archery and tennis in school holidays.

Want to take things a tad more easily? Wander and wildlife watch around Wooda Farm's 40 acres of parkland or take a book to the park gardens.

The kids will likely want to meet the four pygmy goats, chickens and lambs that live on the farm, and when (if) they finally tire of that, they can roam among the woodland paths and nature trails or hang out in the games and TV room. For the under-fives, bouncing around the toddlers' playroom (with Wendy house, slide, bean bags, ride-on toys and a new soft play area) should be a bit of a hit.

The Wooda Farm amenities – three shower and toilet blocks with hairdryers and sockets, disabled facilities, undercover dishwashing sinks, campers' kitchen and a washing point for wetsuits – are excellently maintained, and the park also has a well-stocked licensed shop, a launderette and wifi.

Plenty of picks for food are on hand too, with home-cooked meals (and plenty of picks for beer and wine) in the Courtyard bar and takeaway food in the Lodge.

Bringing the pooch? There's even a special shower for mucky pups who've been running around the extensive dog walking area.

From the manager...

Dear Nicola,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review following your 10 nights stay at Wooda on a grass non-electric pitch as we appreciate the comments that you have made.

All our grass pitches are 10m x 10m and when a booking is made directly with us, we can discuss the pitch options available, and a park plan is accessible on our website to see these.

I am sorry that you were unable to get a drink when you wanted during your stay. Throughout your holiday the Loft Cocktail Bar was open from 4pm – 9pm each evening and the Courtyard Bar & Grill would have been open on Monday and Tuesday for drinks only, Wednesday to Saturday for food and drinks and closed on Sunday.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Wooda in the near future.

Beautiful site, kept very clean and tidy, quiet at night, loved the wash facilities, hot water for showers day and night and always very clean. The onsite shopping facilities were great and the takeaway options were very good value and tasty. We made good use of the badminton and tennis courts and as a family camping with a dog for the first time, found the dog exercise field brilliant.

    Disliked:

Cannot fault the holiday park in any way, I would request a pitch away from the children's play area next time but that is just a personal choice!

From the manager...

Dear Jayne,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review following your 4 night stay at Wooda. It was lovely to read the comments that you have made regarding the park and the facilities that we have to offer.

Due to the Corona Virus restrictions in place when the park opened earlier this year, we had to implement a booking system for tables at The Courtyard Bar & Grill. Guests are now able to book a table themselves online through our website www.wooda.co.uk or they are welcome to call into reception and we can make a reservation for them.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Wooda in the future.

The site was really well maintained and had good facilities. Toilets and shower areas were kept very clean and never had any problems with hot water running out. The shop on site is good for essentials, and the take away on site serves good food, but order on line before 4pm.
Location of the site is excellent - a few minutes drive from Bude or Sandymouth Beach. There is wifi across the site and although not super fast, good for browsing etc...
Although located across the top of the hill, the pitches were relatively flat and access across the site was easy.
A really lovely site to stay on and would definitely recommend.

    Disliked:

My only criticisms are that if you book a non electric pitch you are placed in the middle of the field and in a tent can get battered by the wind from all directions.
The on site loft bar for food is closed on Sundays which given that they were fully booked for the summer holidays seems a little odd.

From the manager...

Dear Lucy,

Thank you for kindly leaving a review following your recent stay on a non-electric pitch in Upper Meadow as it was lovely to read the comments you made regarding the park, the facilities that we have to offer and the location of Wooda.

As well as Upper Meadow we also have non-electric pitches on the main park and in Bramble Park. When a booking is made directly with Wooda we can to let you know the pitches available, and you are able to choose where you would like stay.

Although the Courtyard Bar & Grill is closed on a Sunday which is due to hospitality throughout the country struggling with staff this season The Lodge Takeaway and The Loft Cocktail Bar are open. These are all run under a separate management, and I will therefore pass the comments that you have made onto them.

Wi-Fi is currently free of charge to our guests with some areas have a stronger signal strength than others. You can purchase a code through reception for a premium service which will give you a wider broadband width. The cost of this is £4 for 24 hours or £15 for a week for two devices. Please be aware this is a shared network therefore Sky Go, iPlayer and other streaming programmes might not always work.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Wooda in the future.
