Electric grass pitch

Liked: Nicely maintained park , facilities were very clean and everything was good , nothing was too much trouble. If you have children activities are limited, but was ideal for what we wanted.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The view (when weather nice, lovely sunsets too) clean facilities, easy to find as well signposted. Very friendly owner. Good value.

Disliked: Dogs need to be exercised off site , down a lane and up a cart track is closest area, a shame as a small area on the campsite for bedtime loo breaks would be nice. A few loops to attach a lead outside the toilets would be very useful. Very exposed site if it's windy, in the EHU zones. Some of the non EHU areas are sheltered. Not all pitches are level.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: We stayed midweek so it was very quiet, we were able to pitch wherever. I don't think there is a bad pitch on this site, you will get a sunset view everywhere. Facilities were clean and well stocked, with plugs for your hairdryer etc. Showers are real showers, not push-button-every-5-second ones. Freezers available to use, as well as firewood. Pitches are just slightly sloping, but nothing significant, just pay attention to which direction you will sleep. It's so quiet, well away from roads. We had a great stay and would stay again. It's a good location, close to Boscastle, Tintagel, Widemouth Bay, all sorts. No onsite shop but Boscastle is so close, and there is a farmshop just down the road.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The site is very spacious, the owner Colin is very friendly and relaxed, nice hot showers, clean toilets, 4 sinks to wash up with plenty of space, campsite is very well looked after and clean. Nice views and a relaxing country atmosphere. I had electric hookup with no problems just plugged in everything working

Disliked: Not the site’s fault but the first night was very windy

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Could pitch where we liked on the field, the views were fantastic! The tent pitch field was almost enclosed by hedges and fencing making it feel really safe for the children to run round where we could still see them and keep an eye on them.

Local attractions

Start off on that South West Coast Path near Lower Pennycrocker Farm: you'll be on the path within half a mile of base and the Boscastle to Tintagel Castle leg starts two and a half miles from there, passing splendidly named landmarks like Firebeacon Hill, Rocky Valley and Barras Nose. The nearest beach to the farm is Crackington Haven, less than three miles away, around a coastal village with a shop, two small cafés and a pub. The beach is lifeguarded in summer, as are the ones at Bude, a 20-minute drive away; both are sublimely good surfing spots and popular with families. Never tried it? Enrol in a surf school at Bude or several other beach locations within a short drive to find out more. If you're wandering just to Boscastle or stopping off there on the way to Arthurland, make time for a captivating afternoon in the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic, apparently 'held in high esteem by the British occult community' (hurrah). A visit to the pottery shop and a picnic overlooking Boscastle's harbour should very much be on the cards too. Other options in the area include tackling the golf course at nearby Camelford (other decent courses are at Bude and Launceston), or a meander around Bodmin Moor: see if you can spy the famous beast.
