  • Quiet, family-friendly pop-up next to woodland on a Surrey Hills farm
  • South Downs National Park 30 minutes’ drive, and Box Hill 25 minutes
  • Dogs welcome and direct access to walks; pubs 15 minutes’ walk
When all you want is peace and lots of countryside in which to wander, the answer is simple: make a beeline for Draysey Woods Nature Escape. This small family pop-up site sits on a farm 10 minutes’ walk from Ockley in the Surrey Hills National Landscape – it’s not a place to head for if you’re after entertainment and lots of music; this is a quiet site providing simple pleasures like long rambles through the fields and dog walks in woodland. The site is level and backed by trees; there’s masses of room for family games of football and general running around. Handy facilities include hot showers and clean flushable toilets, washing-up sinks, picnic tables and an undercover games area. Near the site, you can scramble up to Leith Hill's landmark tower from Leith Hill Place Car Park (10 minutes’ drive) to absorb views across the Surrey Hills to the South Downs National Park (half an hour). There are also lots of National Trust properties for you to discover in about half an hour’s drive, and when you’ve had your fill of local heritage, there are two pubs within 15 minutes’ stroll of the site and several others within 10 minutes by car.

What customers say

Great, peaceful, well-kept spot with lovely nature, woods to wander. Super clean facilities, top-notch hosts. Plenty of space, good for families (table tennis, football). Minor points on recycling and trolleys, but otherwise, highly recommended for value and nature.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Lovely little site, very peaceful even on the Gatwick flightpath, wooded walk was nice too. Clean showers and toilets. Highly recommended.

Disliked Dog mess in the woods, toilet light doesn't work, or couldn't locate the switch if there is one!

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Campsite was nice and well maintained

Disliked would have had nothing to complain about aside from the fact that there was an unleashed dog walking around and barking a lot at night (I phoned the campsite and they said it was a neighbour’s dog) to the point where I didn’t feel comfortable sleeping and had to leave the campsite. I was the only camper that night which made it feel worse

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry that this situation left you feeling uncomfortable during your stay.

We did speak with you on numerous occasions during your visit and you said you felt reassured once I told you it was a neighbours family pet and a small Labrador.

We’re also sorry that, despite our efforts, you still felt unsettled. As a gesture of goodwill, we issued a full refund and apologised for the experience.

We take feedback seriously and appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention. We’re sorry that your stay did not feel as relaxing and enjoyable as we would have hoped and we will ensure that our cute little Bella doesn’t try to play out again after dark!

Liked Quiet and low key.
Plenty of camping space.
Hot showers
Fishing toilets

Disliked There wasn't anyone to greet us or allocate us a pitch, as the booking website said. But there was plenty of space, so just picked a spot and pitched up.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Great stay camping, the shower and toilet facilities are excellent and very clean.
Loved the extra touches of table tennis and badminton
Site was incredibly quiet and peaceful

Disliked Just wish more of the long grass was cut back but there were cut paths to pitches and we had no issues with any ticks or bugs.
Could do with some bigger wheelbarrows for transporting gear from car to pitch
