Shepherd's hut (no pets)

Liked: Family ran, beautiful site with everything you need for a perfect stay. Really enjoyed ourselves in one of the Shepards Hut, very high standard of finish, with all the amenities needed for cooking, cleaning and relaxing. We loved the fire pit and used this as a bbq to make our dinner. We went on one of the recommended walks that we found in the welcome booklet and lay outside under the stars before we went to bed. Loved every part of it, wish we could have stayed for longer. Matthew was very friendly and welcoming.

Bell tent (pet friendly, basic)

Liked: It’s a peaceful campsite with an uncrowded airy feel to it. The tents are well spaced, we stayed in the one at the end on the right. Some campsites squash as many pitches together as they can but here we had so much space, it was wonderful. Loved the individual paths to the tents through the high grass, it made our tent area feel even more private. The views of the countryside are gorgeous. The bell tent was spacious and fit 4 of us easily. Matthew the host was very friendly and helpful when we arrived and made us feel welcome. We would definitely visit again in the future.

Bell tent (no pets)

From the manager: Estimado Eduardo, Gracias por su reseña. ¡Feliz campamento! Moira

Local attractions

If you’re keen to see something of the Surrey countryside, the Greenwich Meridian Trail is five minutes’ stroll away, and the North Downs Way, popular with both cyclists and hikers, runs past Botley Hill Farmhouse (half an hour’s walk). Keep the kids entertained with days out at Biggin Hill (10 minutes’ drive) to tour the hangars and see Spitfires, or the British Wildlife Centre (20 minutes), where they can listen to keeper talks and get up close to badgers and pine martens. Let them run off any excess energy playing games at Laser Quest and VR Centre Bromley (25 minutes), or take younger kids to follow the dinosaur trail and meet the donkeys at Godstone Farm (15 minutes). To combine family fun with a bit of culture, visit moated Hever Castle and Gardens (25 minutes) to tour fine Tudor rooms packed with antiques as well as the sculpture-filled water gardens. See the study where Charles Darwin wrote “On the Origins of Species” at Down House, or how Winston Churchill spent his downtime at National Trust - Chartwell (both 15 minutes).
