  • Spacious pop-up site five minutes' drive from Romsey
  • New Forest and Peppa Pig World within 10 minutes' drive
  • Dog-friendly pitches with no artificial light for great stargazing
Small Trees Campsite is a spacious pop-up site in the Hampshire countryside, about five minutes’ drive from Romsey. The large camping field here is surrounded by a variety of trees, and you can choose to pitch in an open space or a more sheltered spot. Families and dogs are welcome, as well as solo travellers, and dogs can be walked nearby on Canada Common. Life on site is all very peaceful – you may well spot kites and buzzards circling overhead, and can finish your day warming up by a firepit, which you can hire on site (on a first-come, first-served basis); wood is also available to buy. On selected evenings, you’ll also be able to buy wood-fired pizzas for an easy evening meal as the sun sets. This is a pop-up site, so all facilities are temporary. A water supply and separate male and female toilets are available on site, along with hot showers, but please note that there’s absolutely no artificial light here, so you’ll need a torch to find your way around after dark. The trade-off, of course, is that the lack of light pollution often leads to some stunning stargazing on site. As for getting out and about, you can cycle over to the New Forest in about half an hour, or hail a bus from the stop a short walk away for services to Salisbury, Romsey or Peppa Pig World. To reach a pub, either go for a short drive or take a 40-minute walk to Romsey through the woods (a map is essential).

What customers say

Lovely family campsite, praised for space & peace. Hosts are super friendly. Guests love the free tea/coffee, fire pits & stargazing. Toilets/showers are clean with recent upgrades. Some suggest better signs & note a slight chemical toilet smell. Great value base.

The Field non-electric grass campervan pitch

Liked lovely little site. Very flat and plenty of room for everyone, with small trees dotted about giving a sense of personal space to each pitch. Facilities are spotless and the showers are wonderful - well kept and spacious, easy to control - a handy temperature dial for incase the shower gets “scalding” - who knew??
Lovely touch of free tea and coffee in the mornings. The walk through the woods to Romsey is stunning. Romsey itself is well worth a visit - lovely little town with loads of charity shops, cafes and a cat cafe! (Booking required). The fish lake reserve is lovely as is the river Test all walkable from site (long walk)
A lovely stay despite the weather!

The Field non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked From the moment of booking, the communication is seamless and welcoming. The owner is exceptionally friendly, accommodating, and very understanding, making the entire stay feel completely stress-free.
The facilities are top-tier: the toilets are lovely and kept spotlessly clean throughout the day, while the showers are wonderfully hot, impeccably clean, and offer great privacy.
The site itself is set in a wonderfully quiet area, offering a calm and restful environment perfect for unwinding.

The Field non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Lovely spacious site and you can pitch wherever you like! Cute swing and little play area for kids.

Disliked Toilets were smelly but that's expected on a campsite tbh.

From the manager: Thanks so much! We found a small leak over the weekend which, without emptying them, was irreparable so will have this sorted for next year.

The Field non-electric grass campervan pitch

Liked Lovely setting with great views. Campsite was quiet and peaceful and the loos and shower were the nicest I’ve ever seen on a pop-up site. Spotlessly clean and with lots of nice homely touches.

Liked Wonderful stay at the camp site. Very peaceful, good facilities, and lovely stars in the night. What a bonus to have boiling water and free tea/coffee in the morning. Very good value and the hosts were lovely, nothing was too much trouble for them.

Disliked No WiFi not an issue for me.

Liked We have just got back to South Wales after a 2 night stay at Small Trees Campsite. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The facilities are fantastic, such a friendly family that run the campsite and the area is beautiful! Our daughter especially enjoyed the rope swing 🤣 We stayed here as a base for visiting Paultons Park, it was perfect! We will definitely do it again. Thank you ♥️

The Field non-electric grass campervan pitch

From the manager: Thanks so much for visiting! We’ve spent hours clearing the field and hopefully this shows, it’s just the hard to reach places we can’t get to but the main camping areas are clear. Thanks for a great review!
