  • Well-equipped glamping site on the edge of the New Forest
  • Quiet site for families or couples wanting a relaxing break away
  • Firepits, kindling provided and hampers available
If you've never been to the New Forest before, it's time you trotted along. And if you've never been to Fernwood Glamping before, it's time you trotted along here too: the friendly owners have added all sorts of little touches for most excellent stays – firepit marshmallows, for example, are free… Although it's in a spectacularly secluded setting, Fernwood is nicely close to the market town of Ringwood, and within easy reach of stacks of New Forest and south-east England attractions. When (if?) it's time to roam off site, ask the owners for their top tips, as they've lived in the area for over 25 years and are pretty well versed in what to see and do in the region. All the glamping accommodation on site is luxuriously kitted out, lit by fairy lights and with woodburners inside. Each also has its own private compost toilet (with more fairy lights) and there's also access to a shared toilet and shower in the garage through a separate door to the main house. For supplies and eats, the closest pub is half a mile away, and just at the bottom of the hill there's a small supermarket, off licence, fish and chip shop and bakery with Friday/Saturday pizza takeaway: bag your supper here and sit back to look over the field and spy resident deer and rabbits.

Shepherd's hut

Liked: Everything was thought of from torches to matches towels fold out chairs. Bed was comfortable and the Log burner was amazing especially as I arrived in the rain and after a shower it was much appreciated. The hamper in the morning was beautifully presented and tasty. The host was so helpful when asked but also gave us privacy. The beautiful new forest was a short walk away. As was a shop and bakery.

From the manager: H Linda, Thank you so much for your wonderful review. it was lovely to meet you both and I am pleased you were able to explore the area and go for walks in the New Forest as the heather is stunning at this time of year. Glad you enjoyed your breakfast hamper in the garden too! Kind regards, Rachel

Route directions

Coaches and buses arrive in Ringwood town centre regularly. There is a bus service to Poulner every half hour or it's a half-hour walk to the site. If the owners are able to pick you up from the centre of town they're very happy to do so: please let them know using the 'Special requests' feature when you book. Alternatively, a taxi should cost about £6-7. It can be quite tricky to find the site in the dark so Satnav is very helpful. Stay on the tarmac road, and do not go up the gravel track.
