It's not just the five-metre luxury bell tents that will have you pretty pleased you've picked a stay at Stanbridge Farm (and they really are pretty special). This family-friendly Hampshire glamping site within easy reach of London has added all sorts of extra little touches too to make your break go swimmingly: you'll get a complimentary drink on arrival, for example; tea, coffee and hot chocolate are all free... and there's even a fancy dress collection of clothes, hats and other sartorial bits and pieces so you can shrug off your city self with ease. Stanbridge is within the South Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in a spectacular woodland setting a couple of miles from Petersfield. The woods are just the spot for for kids (and grownups) to go adventuring, rambling, nature spotting and den building; do make a wish in the magic fairy garden too... Off site, both Chichester and Portsmouth are within half an hour's drive. All bell tents are fully equipped and include cooking utensils, bedding and a torch. The price also includes free access to the wood-fired hot tub so you can bubble away under the stars for a spell, before clambering out, drying off and then constructing a campfire to cook over and sit around as night falls. Hot showers, tables and chairs are all provided, as well as a woodland hut with a fridge freezer, tea, coffee and hot chocolate, and sockets for charging mobiles.

Local attractions

If you ever do leave the farm, your luxury glamping base is within easy reach of plenty of family-friendly days out and attractions around countryside and coast. It's in the South Downs National Park too if you'd rather venture out by foot or bike: Petersfield is on the 21-mile Hangers Way trail, which merges at nearby Queen Elizabeth Country Park with the 100-mile South Downs Way. Around town, fairs and festivals are held throughout the year in Petersfield, as well as markets and a monthly farmers' market in the main square. There's the Flora Twort Gallery and Petersfield Museum if you want to potter around indoors, and shows and concerts year round at the Petersfield Festival Hall if you're staying on into the evening. Just outside town, the archaeological open-air museum Butser Ancient Farm should keep mini historians enthralled, and some time at the Petersfield Heath Pond and play park should take care of any excess energy afterwards. For urban days, Chichester and Portsmouth are within 25 minutes' drive and Guildford within 40.
