What customers say
A friendly, peaceful riverside spot near Rye & Camber. Owners are great, drainage excellent, shop handy. Simple compost loos & bucket showers are a feature. Road noise & smoky/pricey wood noted by a few.

Location is good but doesn't outweigh the negatives
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked The location is good. Easy access to river.
Disliked Expensive for what you get. Pitches are very small you are very close to others. Noise is not policed music was blaring until gone midnight. Showers are an experience, I am happy with a cold water shower from a bucket but not for £35 per night! Drinking water comes from plastic containers left in the sun all day. Generally clean however a lot of rubbish in the bushes.

Nice location but needs more frequent checking
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Lovely setting, basic facilities and great location. We particularly liked swimming in the channel
Disliked Over populated, not managed well
-no one visited or checked in, people all had their cars on the field despite instructions to move them once unloaded, lack of resources provided as stated in description there would be wood but too many people and not enough, messaged lady who said she was not available. We had our son with us and very loud music on Saturday night kept us all awake which was less than ideal

Liked We have been recommending this campsite to everyone! Amazing location next to the river - we enjoyed a refreshing swim on a sunny evening. It’s also very close to Rye, Camber sands and Dungeness as well as countless pretty villages with a great selection of pubs.
Disliked Nothing to dislike.

Highly recommend!
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Location is beautiful & loved it was small but not over crowded with a sensible number of pitches. All tge pitches were adequate in size & you didn't feel others were too close either. The surrounding area & the River Rother is beautiful.
I should also mention the owners are very friendly, welcoming & helpful.
Highly recommend.
Disliked We didn't dislike anything about the campsite except others apparent inability at times to follow instructions on the compost toilets which made 1 out of 3 unusable during most of our visit. That said we are sure if we had let the owners know that would have been resolved swiftly.

A super simple 2 night stay with friends
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Considering the amount of rain that had fallen prior to our arrival, the camp had excellent drainage and there was a layer of hay so no mud at all, yay! Thank you! The ground was also pretty level for camping. We camped in the field near to the toilets. There was lots of space for us and other families to spread out. The site has a river running through it and is surrounded by fields. The kids aged between (8+ years) loved the freedom and the relaxed feel to the site. Communication was easy with Katie the owner and she made us feel very welcome. We also made use of the cooking facilities which were very convenient.
Disliked This is more a personal preference but I wasn't so keen on the compost toilet situation but it was fine for a couple of nights.

Lovely simple site bursting with wildlife and
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked The location is amazing - such a peaceful space and so nice that you are right next to the river. The views of the river from inside the campsite and just opposite the road are amazing.
We also loved that you didn't need to drive anywhere, the place is well connected to local walks and also local pubs. When needed we would get a bus back and it is only a 30 min walk to the local bus station.
My partner and I prefer to have wild style camping sights, so the facilities were just what we needed. The site had some really cute simple compost toilets and bucket showers. The best surprise was the little kitchen area with a gas hobs - we have our own very basic gas cooker, but having this little area was great as meant we could get our pasta done a lot quicker!
Katie the owner was so lovely and accommodating but also gave campers plenty of time and space to get settled in the campsite on their own.
Absolutely loved our stay and sad to be away from nature again.
Disliked It's quite a small campsite, so when it's busy it might be a bit much for those who are looking for a quite camping trip. But luckily, there were only 3 other pitches taken when we were there so we never felt this at all.
