  • Scenic Eden Valley glamping site set in 12 acres of private grounds
  • Brampton 15 minutes' drive; Carlisle 20 minutes
  • Excellent selection of local pubs within five miles
With a range of smart glamping options, Otter Moss Accommodation has spaces that are great for couples, families and groups. Set within 12 acres of an old working farm, most of the site is set around a large meadow. This scenic spot also has a small lake with three islands in it and a rowing boat if you like messing about on the water. The site is located at the northern end of the gorgeous Eden Valley, with far-reaching views over the Cumbrian Fells – on clear days, you can see as far as the Solway Firth and the hills of the Lakes. The Lake District can be driven to in about 40 minutes, while many parts of Hadrian's Wall are closer (within 15 minutes' drive). The city of Carlisle and the M6 to Scotland are 20 minutes away, while the pretty market town of Brampton (15 minutes) is well worth visiting too. The area has lots of local pubs, with an excellent selection available within a five-mile radius. All accommodation units here come with some form of heating are well equipped with kitchen utensils and stoves. Firepits/barbecues are also included, along with all bedding and towels.

Shepherd's hut

Liked: Everything. Have booked again for next month. Stayed in the shepherd's hut and it had everything we needed for our stay, the shower was lovely with plenty of hot water, the bed was so comfortable, the outside patio area was lovely to sit out expecially as it was nice weather. Brampton village a few miles away had places to eat and shop. Ruth and her family made us feel welcome on our stay. My new favourite place for glamping

Disliked: Nothing

Camping pod

Liked: Location excellent to explore areas nearby, really beautiful and tranquil setting. Camping pod right for four and dog but came with all sorts of extras to make the stay more than comfortable. We rarely visit places twice but this is on the list to do so. Ruth and family really lovely people and made us feel more than welcome even though me tipped up three hours late on the Friday due to late work finish. Great value for money and absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a few nights away. Like I said there were four of us plus small dog and children now 15 and 11 but we all had a great time and hope to return! 😊

Disliked: The only slight thing if being really really picky was the mattresses but this is being picky as myself and my wife have back issues. For lost this won’t be a problem though.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Darren, thank you for such an in depth, complementary and informative review! Always a sign you've done something right when guests want to return! Thank you also for the fab photos! Ruth

Shepherd's hut

Liked: Tranquility, seclusion and space - the Shepherd's Hut was like our own little Apollo 11. The Hut was cosy but not in any derogatory way. It was a lovely experience and the owner (+ team) were tremendous. ...And we got really lucky with the weather...breakfast outside and evenings chilled on the terrace

Disliked: Leaving after only three nights. Funny how quickly you can get attached to somewhere.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Anthony, wow what a review - thank you for your lovely words! Maybe next time you could stay longer! Ruth

Shepherd's hut

Liked: Such a beautiful Shepherd's Hut in lovely surrounds. Everything was made up and ready for us, the hut has everything for a very relaxing stay. The location is great, on the first day, we went over the top of the Pennines to Barnard Castle, the scenery is stunning and on the second day we turned the other way and visited the lakes. The pub in Castle Carrock (Duke of Cumberland) is two minutes away and was a great find, very welcoming and the food was lovely. Highly recommend Ruth's place, one of the best places I've booked on Pitch Up!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Moyra, thank you for such a glowing and in depth review, comments like yours make it all worth while! You were a pleasure to host and I really appreciate how clean and tidy you left the shepherds hut!
