Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch
Liked: Can’t fault the reception made to feel welcome and a lovely well laid out campsite with bar and cafe. Shower block a little dated and small for the size of the campsite but immaculate. Lovely views of the sea and Whitby and nice walks from the site. Bus stop 10 minutes walk for a regular bus into Whitby only 4 miles away. Sainsbury’s Superstore 3 miles. Perfect location if visiting the Whitby area.
Disliked: These are not dislikes as such and maybe pitch up should change that term. I have to agree with other reviewers that the pitches are small and the caravans are too close together in my opinion. With the possibility of the car from the caravan next to you parked on the grass adjacent to your caravan window (not sure if this is allowed anyway) and adjacent awning very close. Our caravan is 7.54 in length but would not fit on the pitch as the A frame was on the roadway. However I popped down to reception and the lady moved us to a larger pitch not being aware of our length which although full details are on my profile on pitch up the site only received information that we were 2.5m wide. It wasn’t a problem at all to move but if the site was full we would probably have had to leave but maybe not as the lady said we could go back further back and could put the rear legs on the grass. Pitch was 6.5m in length I believe. There are some comments re having to pay extra for electricity and buy as a minimum a £5 electricity card which we bought. We were there 3 nights and had £1.49 left after 3 nights but we left at 6pm on the 3rd night. We never planned to stay the 3 nights as I was working the next day but wanted a late departure. For info the first night we used electric for our heater and water fridge and charger and used £3.20 it seemed to go down quick. Gas for kettle and cooking. When we realised in the morning we might run out we changed over to gas for heating, water and fridge and hardly used any electricity after that. There were only 4 cubicles for showers and I was unable to use them first thing as there were queues. So not big enough to cater for all the tents, pods and tourers but wasn’t a real issue as we had our own facilities in the caravan anyway. Also this is not a dislike as we had 3 kids with us caravanning when they were young but I wouldn’t describe the site as peaceful as there were hoards of kids on bikes and playing and noise. No sign of parents. We supervised our kids when we toured with them .Good for families I guess but there were two play areas hardly used so don’t expect a peaceful time. My only other issue was we paid £12 extra for an awning on pitch up but on arrival we were asked if we were putting up an awning. Due to the weather forecast we said no. So in hindsight I should have asked for a refund or maybe next time don’t pay for the awning and pay on arrival if you are wanting to put up an awning. Lesson learnt. These are my honest opinions and observations rather than dislikes. Not withstanding the above we did like our stay and it was nice to see the kids enjoying themselves although a little noisy.

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch
Liked: It has a cafe and a small shop. It was close to a local bus stop and to a local pub.(5 mins walk) pub is dog friendly Campsite has a great dog walk area. Friendly staff Wifi good / tv reception good
Disliked: Paying extra for electricity (a big dealbreaker for some?) . Also No refund for credit not used, or able to take credit away with you for a return visit. No hair dryer in the shower area(1x with the wash room /also a token needed which was not explained on checkin) Children not supervised by parents in the restaurant area. Only 4x Showers ( each in ladies n gents) for the amount of tents and campervans/ caravan users within the area. There is no dog area within the cafe, only outside which is no good if its raining Shop could have more of the essentials you may need also it doesnt serve alcohol as it wants you to purchase the drinks within the cafe/bar area. Not having an adult only area Limited towel/ clothes hooks within the shower cubicle

Liked: It was very clean and tidy showers and toilets 🚻 clean every time we used them , its great base for walkers easy to catch the bus to whitby or Scarborough they run ever 5 minutes , close to the coast to coast walk and the Tinder path for bikers, thr pub in the village amazing food ! we didn't use the onsite one as it only opened as we left , paying electricity separate we liked as your only paying for what you use , it was very quite on a night but we stayed Monday to Friday so didn't have many children , quite a few arrived Friday afternoon but we heard nothing after 9 Good site would defo use again
Disliked: No refund for un-used electricity which is hard to work out think they should refund you

Electric optional grass tent pitch (large)
Liked: The location was amazing. Easy access to whitby, Scarborough and Robin hoods bay. Pub just across the road that was lovely. Huge dog field for our pooch. Beautiful site with good amenities
Disliked: Showers and loos on the small side but we're clean and in good order. The separate charge for electric caused us an issue as we only had electric cooking facilities which zapped through our token, but we managed to sort it by getting a small gas hob, and wouldn't be an issue again for us.
