  • Working farm site with spectacular views over the Vale of Pickering
  • Less than 30 minutes’ drive to Scarborough seaside town
  • Shepherd’s hut set on top of the hill, surrounded by flat green space
If you’re after sweeping countryside views, easy access to the coast and miles upon miles of outstanding natural beauty, this might just be the secluded North Yorkshire hideaway you’ve been hunting for. Sleeping up to four, accommodation is in a well-appointed shepherd’s hut; its wooden interior comes with a microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster in the kitchen, a bed and pull-out sofa bed, a TV and a woodburner to keep things nice and cosy. In the spirit of keeping things simple, peaceful and back to nature, there’s no entertainment on site at Quarry Farm… just loads of wide open space and those utterly spectacular vistas across the Vale of Pickering – south facing too, for extra basking on sunny days. The huge grassy area surrounding the shepherd’s hut provides kids with more than ample space for football kicking, kite flying and galloping around with the friendly resident dogs. When you fancy a break from the toils of the camping stove and decide you’re done with driving for the day, Ebberston’s local restaurant – a mile away – is a good spot for an evening meal, and a pub is in the village too.

Great views, spacious pitches, and spotless facilities (hot water!). Friendly owners, peaceful vibe. Perfect for exploring. Just pack sturdy pegs for the hard ground. Can get busy at loos in peak times.

Limmy Lodge 1 bedroom shepherd's hut

Liked The views are spectacular. There is so much space. The site is very quiet and peaceful and safe for little kids to just play in the field/grassy area. The toilets and showers are very clean and excellent better than many campsites. The location is fantastic to get to the coast by car in 20 minutes. Lovely villages to explore nearby. The washing up and drying room is clean and well looked after. The hosts are friendly and are on hand if there are any issues but are happy to leave you to get on with it. We will definitely be back.

Limmy Lodge 1 bedroom shepherd's hut

Liked Lovely and clean shepherds hut. Amazing views and friendly owners. Only feedback I would give is for a welcome pack telling you where toilets, bins are as I was unable to find the bins when I was leaving. But, apart from that AMAZING & quiet. A lovely place to reset

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked Absolutely awesome views, both in the day and at night time. So peaceful even with it being a working farm. We will definitely be coming back to take full advantage of the night sky. So glad we visited and found this campsite.

Limmy Lodge 1 bedroom shepherd's hut

Liked Faultless trip. We stayed in one of the shepherds huts which was incredibly cosy and well kitted out. The campsite has a beautiful view and in a good location for accessing local towns and only 25 minutes to Scarborough beach. Shower rooms were spotless and far better than your usual campsite showers. The cute farm dogs were also a bonus. Will definitely be back. Thankyou.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Views
Clean bathrooms
Large, spaced out pitches

Disliked No decent sized recreational area as the grass was too long to play in. So not great for children

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Sorry you couldn’t find anywhere to play cricket . We have large areas of grass near the campsite some of which can be used for playing ball games . Some have longer grass to encourage barn owls and other birds of prey . There is a large area where football or rounders can be played . There are a few areas on the camping field that could also be used as a crease for cricket if children are using a cricket windball.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Lovely small site on a massive field with lovely clean bathrooms with hot water. Kitchen to clean your dishes etc too! Well kept field with good spaces in-between pitches. View was wonderful and we were blessed with good weather. Phone call to farmer when we arrived who met us quickly to show us around and was very approachable. Saw owls and hares. Road to site kept scraping bottom of car as raised in the middle but overall a very good site and would recommend. Thank you

Local attractions

Stacks of natural attractions and outdoorsy options surround the farm, the first being the Dalby Forest National Landscape around five miles away. As well as all the walking and cycling trails that network the forest floor, there’s an activity centre with paintballing, airsoft, archery, tree climbing, orienteering and low ropes courses. The farm is close to the Howardian Hills, which are crisscrossed by bridleways and quiet lanes for horse riding and on and off-road cycling. The 14-kilometre mountain bike route beginning at Coneysthorpe has splendid views to the north across the Vale of Pickering and beyond towards the North York Moors National Park, and there are options for shorter rides along this route if you opt to use the bridlepaths around it. Pickering’s narrow shopping streets, ancient castle and access to the famed North York Moors Steam Railway are eight miles from base, and the seaside towns of Scarborough and Filey are both within half an hour’s drive.
