Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Very clean and tidy A battle for the staff to keep clean as quite few people leaving rubbish about and not using bins provided. Showers and toilets were clean Showers drain into each other so if you choose one at the bottom of the run other people's water is on your floor. Dog are very good The restaurant was ok Not bad prices Not wow though.

Disliked: Only the showers draining in to each other Noise on first night

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Good sized pitches are well maintained Pub on site is lovely and the food served is nice however book a table as we turned up as a 6 and they seemed overwhelmed. Play park is on a hill and plenty to do Dog walk facility is fully enclosed and has a dog water bowl and tap (great touch)

Disliked: A lot of seasonal pitches that are in groups so seem territorial and have a lot of clutter (some like a shantie town) A fair bit of litter around the park even in the streams. Toilet blocks could do with a deep clean not just a wipe and some maintenance.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: The facilities for children were excellent, large park and mini golf. The large enclosed field for dogs was a nice bonus and the pub on site was lovely, did have a slight issue with the food not as expected but the waitress was fantastic and allowed us to order a different meal to compensate.

Disliked: The toilet facilties were not the best, the showers when on soaked the whole cubical floor and ran into the the next cubical, not ideal if you were trying to dry and constantly has someone else's shower water running through your cubical. The site appears to cater more for seasonal tourers who were very loud of an evening seemed a bit like party central which included lots of screaming kids. The pitches for normal tourers were not level, so on parking up our twin axel as best we could it was still leaning to one side.. which caused issues with the water draining from the sink and doors/cupboards opening if not locked. Finally the WiFi is hit and miss, really only good enough to send text messages which was fine for us, but no good for anyone wanting to use the WiFi for streaming purposes.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Lovely place. Very clean site, outdoor and toilets and showers. Staff very welcoming and will help in any way they can. Large enclosed dog exercising field which was brill. Nice to be able to just walk up to their pub for a pint!! Views are beautiful over the golf course and bowls green.

Disliked: Only comments would be more water taps on SA touring pitch, maybe near the church. Wifi not on that part of site but could pick it up if you moved around. Prices in the pub very pricy!! We got takeaway chips to go with a meal, 10 chips (I counted) was £3.50!!!

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Lovely well maintained site, facilities kept clean at all times, Pitch was a decent size Lovely grounds to walk around! Thought the mini golf being free was a nice lil touch!

Local attractions

Explore abbeys, halls and castles, pick up local produce at farmers' markets (pop into reception on site to find out details), or take off into the countryside for days of hiking, biking and fishing: all are easily done from Akebar Park. Head to Helmsley and East Witton for Rievaulx and Jervaulx abbeys, both founded in the 12th century by Cistercian monks and both among the wealthiest abbeys in the land until being dissolved by the egotistical Henry VIII. Jervaulx Abbey was also the place where Wensleydale cheese originated way back in 1150; see how it's made and have a sample at the Wensleydale Creamery and Visitor Centre near Hawes, then follow up with a sweet treat at the Brymor Dairy ice cream parlour near Jervaulx Abbey. At Leyburn town, find more cheese and heaps of other tasty things at the farmers' market on the fourth Saturday of every month, and heaps of tasteful bits and pieces at its weekly Friday market, antiques centre and art and jewellery galleries. Leyburn's fitness and squash centre allows guests and also has a pool. On the outskirts of town, permit the kids a day out among the chambers, tunnels and many hidden surprises at fabulously odd The Forbidden Corner in Tupgill Park.
