  • Peaceful pitches with stunning views of Capability Brown landscapes
  • Hull, Beverley and Bridlington within a 40-minute drive for days out
  • On the Burton Constable estate, with a well-run bar and playground
If there’s one name that encapsulates stunning English landscape gardening, it's that of Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown – the 18th-century landscape architect was such a genius that his name still tops any list of great garden designers to this day. At Burton Constable Holiday Park, guests are surrounded by Capability Brown's 18th-century landscapes. Just 20 minutes' drive away from Hull, this historic site was founded in 1968 by J.R Chichester-Constable and has excellent views all while being based within the Burton Constable historic estate. Families, couples, and dogs are all welcome, with scenic walks on site and a 24-hour helpline provided for guests to contact the owners. The facilities include a playground, modern showers and a well-run bar. There are also a couple of pubs a short walk away in the village.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Nice area, facilities good. Kids enjoyed the park. Nice walk across to the hall, with displays the children understood for free. Bar ok with a Singer on Saturday night. Woodland Cafe nice with very helpful staff and good prices.

Disliked: Camp seems a little run down and requires a bit of TLC since our last visit. Food in the take away trailer terrible and so over priced. Loaded chips consisted of approximately 19 chips with pulled pork dumped on top for £9 with only a spoon to eat it. peperoni Pizza with 6 pieces of pepperoni on it. Never again.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: The pitches were well maintained and tidy, the staff in the pub/shop were lovely and so friendly with our grandchildren

Disliked: We book this site due to the rave reviews, but was so disappointed with a few things. The children's playground was not fit for purpose, two baby swings both full of green mould, slide small, the playground was huge but had nothing of play value in it...tired needs total revamp. Only went once as the kids didn't want to go again. Fishing....any chance my husband can get and he will fish, but sadly not on your site, he put his fishing tackle back in the car, full of lillies, not well managed and had litter in, spoke to a few who were fishing and they said it was poor. Showers/toilet facilities were lovely and clean, but the family shower cubicle was out of action for two days, the shower timer 10 seconds was a pain in the proverbial and the baby changing was inadequate and in the wrong place, nowhere to put wipes, nappies etc when preparing to change the baby, also the changing station was tilted down so she kept sliding down, nearly sliding off. I wasn't going to put a review but I booked for two reasons, playground and fishing and sadly they didn't live up to our expectations

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: The staff were all so welcoming and friendly. Every single person was so approachable - it was a breath of fresh air. The pitches are lovely and spacious. All areas are clean & tidy. The showers/toilets are really nice, with music playing in the background . The pub is really nice, and the shop is ideal , with hot snacks available. There is a street food cart on a fri/sat and entertainment although we left beforehand. We have already booked for next year !!

Disliked: The lake is not the best for fishing, at this moment in time, as it is covered largely in lilly pads. The photos are misleading.

Local attractions

Naturally your first stop will have to be Burton Constable Hall, a short walk away across the parkland. You might like to take a tour of the house, or explore the stunning gardens a bit more, or perhaps follow one of the trails (the wildlife sculpture trail is a particular favourite). There are also various play areas for the kids, and an event programme that runs through high season. Next stop may well be Hull (20 minutes’ drive), where the top spots include The Deep aquarium, the maritime museum and the Streetlife Museum of Transport, where you can see all sorts of old vehicles including cars, trams and trains – and all for free… If you fancy more urban time, plan days out in Beverley (half an hour) or York (an hour and 15 minutes). Or maybe it’s time to head to the sea? Bridlington (40 minutes) is the place to go for a beach day, while Spurn Point (half an hour) is a wilder area of dunes and bird-spotting.
