What customers say

Peaceful stays, great lake views from lakeside pitches. Friendly staff, good, affordable food at bar/restaurant. Facilities a bit dated but clean & functional, upgrades happening. Fishing & water sports popular. Some noise/pitch allocation issues.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch (lake view)

Liked Very friendly

Disliked We booked a riverside pitch so we could do some fishing. But we was looking at reeds so had yo ask the people next to us of it was ok to fish in front of there van. In the description of the fishing. They forgot to say they is a bus /caravan and other things sunken in the lake and I don't no how many times we had to set up time and time again. So for me it was not the best place for fishing.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch (lake view)

Liked The lake access for the kayaks is right on your pitch, it's a bigger and deeper lake than we expected and life jackets must be warn even for swimming. You can fish for a reasonable fee.

Showers, toilets, pot wash & launderette close to pitches.

The bar & restaurant are lovely, reasonably price, got set opening times, at the weekends can order breakfast & dinner.

The launderette is new and reasonable priced.

Disliked Pitches are close together but everyone is very friendly.

It's cold water only for pot wash at the moment, while work is being done on the site, hopefully the toilets and showers will get updated soon.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked It was our second trip here and enjoyed the peace and quiet as only 2 on the site then just us on the last night. The pitch was Spacious. Very good value for the price. The toilets still need attention (panel between toilets needs extending lower as can see into next cubicle) but at least this time there was soap & paper towels. Didn't use facilities/bar this time.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch (lake view)

Liked Use of lake and location of pitch!

Disliked Toilets smelly, need updating to more Morden 1s, showers in same block as the pub and are the only 1s on site. Bins over flowing. Pitches not level. Not really a famiky site I have nurodiverse children who had meltdowns and used some inappropriate language during this site not understanding of this, quite hours is 9pm to 9am which we respected how ever music from.pub until gone 1130 disturbing children's and babies sleep. If it should state when booking that we need to inform them of the children's additional needs which it dident i totally understand others want to enjoy thier time on site but sometimes children with additional needs do have meltdowns so maybe this needs stating when booking!! For someone to complain it ruined our stay wont be returning and definitely dont recommend as a family site! Pl

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are, of course, disappointed to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations.
We would like to clarify that the complaints raised during your visit were not regarding your children, but rather the consistent use of foul and inappropriate language by shouting used by yourselves, which is strictly not permitted on site. This has already been communicated to you directly via email. Our quiet hours and behaviour standards are in place to ensure that all families and guests can enjoy a safe and respectful environment.

Our facilities, including toilets and showers, are cleaned and checked regularly throughout the day. We are sorry if you found them unsatisfactory on this occasion.

The showers are located in our main block, which also adjoins Charlie’s Bar, and this is clearly advertised on our website and booking platforms. Along with further toilets and shower rooms located across Park 2 and Park 3.

With regard to your additional comments:

Bins are emptied daily, though during peak times they may fill more quickly, and we work hard to manage this.

As a countryside site, some of our pitches are naturally uneven which is also stated upon booking, but we do our best to allocate the most suitable areas depending on availability.

In relation to the music from Charlie’s Bar, this is a licensed premises operating within permitted hours. Our quiet hours of 9pm–9am apply across our park to maintain respect for neighbouring guests & customers, and are clearly stated to our guests in our terms and conditions (signed by all guests on arrival) and on Pitchup at the time of booking.

We appreciate that children with additional needs may have challenges from time to time. However, this information was not disclosed at the time of booking or check-in, and unfortunately our staff were not made aware in advance. Had we been informed, we would have done our best to provide additional understanding and support during this issue.

While we regret that your experience has led to this, we must prioritise the comfort and enjoyment of all our guests equally.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Site has lovely views over the lake. Staff super helpful and friendly engaging in conversations around the park

Disliked Could do with an explanation to trip the switch for EHU for it to work but we were first time caravaners so that’s also our issue

Local attractions

Browse Beverley’s traditional market on a Saturday or swing by this town at any time to take in the Gothic minster and catch the horses hightailing it around the racecourse (20 minutes’ drive). It’s also worth setting off towards Skirlington Leisure Park for the famed car boot sale held on Sundays (outside of January) and to stroll through 70 acres of landscaped countryside leading down to the East Yorkshire coast. Further north (around an hour) is the edge of the North York Moors National Park, where rural police show Heartbeat was filmed, and the location of well-known seaside towns such as Scarborough and Whitby (an hour and an hour and a half, respectively). Spend time on the former's sandy beaches before roaming the ruined Gothic abbey – the inspiration for the novel Dracula – in the latter. Another famed urban settlement not to miss is the ancient city of York (an hour and 10 minutes) with its cobbled streets, Viking history and clutch of excellent independent boutiques. Walk along ancient walls circling the buildings, poke around a 13th-century Gothic cathedral with medieval stained glass and bell towers, then meander to the Monk Bar gate for an exhibition on the infamous King Richard III.
