General

  • A 14-acre secluded farm site with access to the Teesdale Way
  • Fishing on the banks of the River Tees
  • Modern amenities block with underfloor heating

What a lovely little place… Co Durham's Leekworth Caravan Park is a 14-acre secluded farm site with spectacular countryside views, surrounded by the north Pennines and on the outskirts of the historic market village of Middleton-in-Teesdale.

It's a riverside park, set on the banks of the River Tees with fishing for guests: how fab. If you're not up for fishing, this is walking land too, with miles of walking paths accessible nearby and the famed Teesdale Way cutting through the farm to join the Pennine Way.

The site's modern shower and toilet block has underfloor heating throughout; there's also a shower and toilet accessible to disabled guests, along with a covered washing-up area and chemical disposal.

Leekworth has a food shop on site; a well-stocked grocery shop as well as country shops and cafés are in Middleton village 10 minutes' walk away and a big supermarket is in Barnard Castle within 10 miles.

Fantastic location to go on walks and bike rides straight from pitch.
So relaxing to go to sleep and wake up to the sound of the river nearby.

Robin and his mum work tirelessly to keep the site clean. They are contactable all day. The views are beautiful, the site is well maintained, there are several precautions in place to help with Covid and several hand sanitiser stations around the site.
Very happy with our stay, I have already recommended to family and friends.

Lovely big pitches with lots of space and great position next to the River Tees. Beautiful walk along the river. Kids loved swimming in it. Toilets were clean. Didn’t use the shower as we had our own but worth remembering to bring 50p if you want to shower.

    Disliked:

Site owner was very strict so make sure you follow the site rules! Scary! Road is very narrow leading to site.

The location was perfect. Everything was clean and gel stations around and limited numbers in shower/toilet block for reducing spread of covid 19.

Many lovely places in Middleton in Teesdale but we thoroughly enjoyed a full English at the Tees Pot before we set off.

    Disliked:

Not a dislike but would have been nice to have choice of a spot away from families with small children. We didn't fit the criteria for the adult field (18) because we have a 16 year

Large campsite reasonably flat and well drained, right next to the river and village shops. Clean modern shower block

    Disliked:

Disabled facilities were closed but we were not informed prior to arrival, the manager told us his mother and staff were using them because of covid19. The wifi never worked for 4 days we were there, when I reported it I was told it was probably because it was windy however it wasn't windy the last day and still not working, we tried on 2 phones and an ipad

Good sized pitches, nice and level. Well kept site, toilet facilities very clean. 'Gas bottle' fire pits were lovely to sit around in the evening and cheaper than we've paid for on other sites (£7 for fire pit and kindling/logs). Lots of great walks in the area and around the site itself. Calor gas available too if you run out (which we did!). Everyone seemed to observe the dogs on leads rule too which was great to see. The adult-only field we stayed on was very quiet and peaceful, only the sound of the river could be heard at night. We would definitely come back here, we may even get some sunshine next time..!

    Disliked:

We loved this site but if I have to say a 'dislike', I would probably only say that the shop hours could be longer. Not really a biggy though.
