Liked: Nice and peaceful, lovely huts warm and cosy, Surrounded by wildlife and fields with cows & sheep nearby. . Fantastic meals in the pub.and excellent value for money. 10mins drive to barnard Castle town, 20mins drive to Hamsterley forest which was why we chose hilltop huts. Will hopefully be back next year

Liked: Huts were tip top condition and little bits like a fridge, kettle, toaster made it more luxurious than other camping pods we have stayed in. Pub on site was an excellent bonus and food served was good quality and not overpriced. Great walking routes nearby- got straight into Teasdale Way and did a beautiful walk to Middleton and back.

Camping pod (five person)
Liked: Pods we're clean and tidy with plenty of storage! very helpful, friendly staff! Pub onsite serving food! Food was in my opinion excellent and reasonably priced, you can either eat in or take away which we chose to do, toilets clean and quite modern.
Disliked: We had a 5 person pod which possibly would suit family with small(ish) children but was a bit small with our 2 18yr old kids, beds were quite hard and uncomfortable! Showers looked awesome but in reality the flow was quite slow and not hot enough! The worst part was the pot wash which consistered of 1 pot sink and two drainers when there was a couple of what looked like unused buildings which could easily be converted

Liked: The pod and area around it was clean and as described. Really good value for money. The pub onsite was really well priced, and the food in the restaurant was amazing.. couldn't fault it.
Disliked: The fully stocked shop that was advertised was closed and empty. The pub had a private party on the Saturday night...and although signs around the site tell everyone in pods to be quiet by ten..the pubs party kept going with music blaring round the site til nearly midnight. Would have been nice to have been informed that this would be the case.

Liked: Pods well equipped, very peaceful site. Facilities clean but could do with an update. Girl serving food in pub was very friendly and food was good for the price.
Disliked: Would have been nice to have been able to use a fireplace when it dropped cool in the evening.

Camping pod (three person)
Liked: Pod was huge!! Great having kettle & toaster & microwave available. The little heater was an added bonus to help warm the hut as it’s still very early spring. Toilet & washing up facilities are clean & close to pods. Having the pub attached is lovely. Had a lovely meal first night, portions are HUGE!! Sat outside & had a drink after our hike too. Staff very welcoming & would definitely recommend & come again!
Disliked: Nothing we disliked. Just a couple of tips if people stay, you don’t park next to your pod but where you park isn’t far. Just bare this in mind for carrying stuff back & forth if weather bad. The toilet blocks are cold, especially of an evening so time your showers to when it’s a bit warmer 🤣 The table in the pod converts to a bed so the cushions aren’t the most comfy even with mattress topper & bedding on so suggest bring an airbed too.
