  • Well-maintained, landscaped adults-only park near Polstead in Suffolk
  • A 20-minute drive to Lavenham, and 25 minutes to Ipswich Waterfront
  • Essentials shop on site; food pub five minutes’ walk away
Its rural location on the edge of a Suffolk conservation area ensures visitors to Polstead Country Park have plenty to do during their stay. The pretty village of Polstead is five minutes’ drive away, and walkers have access to a network of footpaths from there, taking in ancient woodland scattered with bluebells in spring, while overnighting cyclists can pick on the South Suffolk Cycle Route with a 10-minute ride from the park. If you've brought the car, your options widen even further – animal parks, stately homes and beaches are all within half an hour’s drive. Landscaped with flowers, neat hedges and shady mature trees, the pitches at this adults-only site are generously sized and immaculately maintained. Spotless modern facilities include shower facilities with underfloor heating and a dedicated accessible bathroom, while washing-up sinks and a laundry area make it easy to keep everyone and everything looking shipshape. The friendly staff at reception can let you have all sorts of information on the local area and places to visit, and there’s also a small site shop stocked with essentials. If you fancy a break from cooking, there’s a foodie pub within five minutes’ walk and other options in Polstead village.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Late arrival information was given clearly before arrival so there was no problem getting entry to the site and onto our pitch. The shower and toilet facilities were always very clean. Thumbs up from us.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Everything

Disliked Nothing although if I were being picky there was no wifi extending to pirch 31.
The Brewers stops serving food at around 8pm.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much William for taking time to leave a review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and yes, because of our situation the free WiFi only covers the Main Field so guests have to use their own data on the Paddock and Long FIeld.

Would go again definitely but not on that side of the park .

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Site very clean and secluded sections

Disliked The pitch we were on was so noisy from traffic on busy main road. It was difficult to try and mentally block out the noise

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for taking time to leave a review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay in spite of the road noise. The long field is closer to the main road and some guests aren't bothered by the road while others can't zone it out. When you return you can request another area.

Lovely small friendly site , close to wooded walk to the village.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The pitches were very private, grounds immaculate. We were greeted on arrival & made to feel welcome explaining where everything was situated. Facilities spotlessly clean/ modern with music playing in background. Pub 5 mins walk away serving good food. Great for a quiet getaway to relax & chill out. Bus stop 5 mins away next to the pub. Had a lovely relaxing stay. Thank you from Paul & Carol 😊

Disliked Nothing

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Well established site pitches decent size and quite private from each other but site itself nicely compact with toilets and showers in centre of it all. Greeted on arrival and shown pitch by very friendly polite lady and she explained gate codes etc and gave us information sheet.
Remained on site throughout if we needed any help or information.
Nice touch having radio on in toilet/shower block.

Disliked Couldn't change temperature in shower

From the manager: Thank you so much Molly for your lovely review and we hope to welcome you again!

Local attractions

Pretty Suffolk villages to explore include Kersey (five minutes’ drive) with its half-timbered houses and thatched cottages, while Lavenham (20 minutes) has a stunning guildhall and fine 14th-century church. For a bit of a date night, Ipswich (25 minutes) has lots of bars and restaurants along its lively waterfront, as well as a theatre and cinema. There are pretty country yomps along the River Stour to Flatford Mill (25 minutes) and Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (20 minutes) in Constable Country. You can see another artist’s house on the walking trail from National Trust-owned Melford Hall (20 minutes) to Sudbury (15 minutes), which takes in three old water mills and Thomas Gainsborough’s house en route. Looking for animal encounters on your rural break? Feed lambs (in season), groom horses and cuddle up to friendly donkeys at Baylham House Rare Breeds Farm, or get up close to the reptiles, creepy crawlies and butterflies at Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife Park (both half an hour). Or how about touring a couple of local vineyards? Giffords Hall (half an hour) and Burnt House (45 minutes) are both open for tours and tastings – it’s best to book in advance.
