Seaside non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: It was our second time at the Hollies, but this time with the kids. Not so faraway from London, quick booking, professional fields map and new, clean facilities. Warm water- even for dishwashing areas:) And the most amazing thing- just couple of minutes to the sea and if you want sandy beach- only about 10 min driving. Definitely we will back :)

Seaside non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Lovely campsite on the cliffs over the beach. Great facilities, warm showers, washing machines and dryers, food trucks on site. Fires allowed and good amount of space for each pitch. Family friendly and lots to do in the local area.

Disliked: Some additional extras like paying for a second car which must be left in the carpark, didn't see this on pitch up.

Seaside non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Very relaxed and efficiently run. Tent pitches at the front on the cliff front were great. Nice atmosphere with other campers and the toilet blocks were constantly being cleaned.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Lovely area, and when finished will be really nice, lovely walks, toilets very clean, fish & chip van on site, lovely when the weather is right!

Disliked: Nothing really just some people who are staying on the site made us feel uneasy I think they must live on the site and didn’t seem very friendly.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Located just off the a12 but no real road noise. Clean and tidy facilities. Expanding site work ongoing (May 24) all with good size pitches. On site breakfast and fish and chip vendors (good selection of food, freshly cooked at good prices. Staff all very nice and always ready to help. 90 step access to the beach going downs easy but ...... its tougher getting back up. Bus stop just outside site gate.

Local attractions

The Hollies is in a spiffing location to get to the best of Suffolk, Norfolk, the countryside and the Broads for a bit of whatever you fancy in boating, fishing, hiking, rainy day activities and family days out. Lowestoft, Southwold and Great Yarmouth are all within ten miles – Lowestoft is only about five minutes by car – and are all well worth a day trip each, as is lovely Norwich about an hour's drive to the north-west (services run regularly from Lowestoft Station too). Lowestoft has two theatres and a handful of small museums in Sparrow Park alongside the main Lowestoft Museum in Nicholas Everett Park; head to the library's local history section for more pics and info of days of yore. Lowestoft's lighthouse is probably its most well-known feature, but take time for a trip to Ness Point too, the most easterly location in the UK (just ask a Lowestoft local to point you towards Gulliver). If you're on hol with the kids, you'll find loads of family-friendly options in the area, like the Africa Alive animal park five minutes' drive from the Hollies (go here on a Sunday for a bonzer of a car boot sale) and the Pleasurewood Hills theme park about 20 minutes away. Kids might also like the wooden roller disco at Lowestoft's Claremont Pier, but if this doesn't have them wheeling around in joy, take them to walk the plank at the play park Adventure Island, or to see more species at Thrigby Hall Wildlife Park just outside Great Yarmouth. Finally, nautical sorts don't need to tie themselves in knots trying to find a craft to take care of, as fishing boats can be chartered near Kessingland for sea angling trips, and the Norfolk Broads Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is within easy reach to drift along wildlife-laden waterways.
