Lovely little site but needs a few tweaks
Electric optional grass touring pitch
Liked This is a beautiful campsite. The setting is really pretty and it's lovely to be able to sit and look out over the adjacent woodland and fields. We saw wildlife really close and as it was really quiet there, we slept well too.
Toilet/shower room was really clean and the shower was lovely and hot.
Provisions for waste disposal were set up well for the most part.
The site was handy for Norwich and the ring road and you definitely felt secluded.
Disliked Whilst waste disposal area was clean and well set up, it would have been useful to be able to drive over the area to get rid of grey waste. We don't use a lot of waste water but I also don't have a washing up bowl or anything else to empty it into, so we weren't able to make use of this facility. I believe that a washing up area is possibly going to be put in and I think this is a really good idea. It certainly would have helped us significantly, as we do use site washing up areas to catch up a bit (we eat out more often than not) and actually then the grey waste wouldn't have been such an issue for us.
The site itself is really lovely but I have to say, you really do need to drive off the site to go and get food as it's a long road up to the main road, very dark and no pavements, so if you are wanting to get food then you need to drive. We walked without realising how dark it was down the road and I can only thank heavens I had a torch, otherwise I genuinely think we would have felt very unsafe. I had to wave the light on the road to get someone to slow down on our way back. I totally understand that this is not the site owners problem, but it might be an idea to indicate this in the blurb.
We didn't want to drive off site any more than needed as the gates were a pain being locked at all times. It helped for safety but then that speaks more of the area I guess, if you have to have security to such a level. I would have preferred for it to be open between certain hours and then locked at night personally.
The other thing I would say about security is the lock on the toilet and shower. Having to get the key out every time you need to use the loo or have a shower is a real pain. When you pay separately for the use of the loo and shower, I honestly didn't expect them to have to go through such a rigmarole to use them. I think I get why it is locked but then I wonder if it's better to just include the price in the overall cost. We also found the door to the container REALLY hard to open, both pulling it from outside and pushing from inside. We talked about some people just not being able to use it, or getting stuck inside for not being able to get enough heft behind it, so that is a real issue and one of the main reasons for the score.
We were also a little surprised that we didn't see the owner. I get it's a business, and we were there on our own, but it would be good to have a check in at some point in the stay with someone. We would have mentioned our thoughts on the door, locks, gates etc., then rather than having to put them on here.
Overall I would recommend to others but would definitely note a couple of things.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed the peaceful setting, beautiful surroundings, wildlife and cleanliness of the facilities.
We would like to clarify a few points for the benefit of future guests.
The site facilities are clearly advertised, including the fact that there is currently no washing-up area. We do, however, plan to install one in the near future.
Check-in at Whispering Oaks is remote, as clearly stated on Pitchup. Guests are sent a welcome text on the day of arrival with their check-in instructions and details. If anything is unclear or they experience any difficulties, they are welcome to call us directly for assistance.
The key-locked toilet and shower facilities are in place to help maintain a high standard of cleanliness and ensure they remain exclusively for the use of our paying guests.
Regarding the road, the lack of pavements and street lighting is outside our control. This is a quiet country lane regularly used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders. We would reasonably expect anyone choosing to walk along an unlit country road after dark to take appropriate precautions, such as carrying a torch.
With regard to the toilet door, had this issue been brought to our attention during your stay, we would have had the opportunity to investigate and resolve it. It's unfortunate that we weren't contacted about this at the time, as we would have been happy to help.
We're glad that you enjoyed many aspects of the site overall, and thank you for choosing to stay with us at Whispering Oaks.
I recommend this site if you want a really peaceful time.

Liked Very private site , very quiet . Very well kept. Spotless toilets and showers. You get to choose wether you want to pay extra for the site showers and toilets , so your break can be cheaper . Unusual but it works.
Disliked Lock system on toilets and gates was a faff. Maybe use a door handle with integrated pin pad ?

Liked We just stayed 5 nights and was lovely. We had the site to ourselves. Very small and quiet site. We paid the extra to use the facilities. One shower room with sink & toilet in it and then there was a separate toilet. Both accessible by key safe. No pitch markings so can choose how you pitch up. We pitched up under a tree so didn’t really get too much rain. Shower and toilets so clean and well maintained.
We visited sherringham, Norwich and Cromer as around 30min drive away. Also lovely wooden land walk in the town.
Disliked No enough lighting at night when needing to walk to the facilities. Could do with a washing up facilities but not a massive issue as we washed up in the caravan. Facilities could be accessed by pin rather than key safe, as key safe was too high for a short person like myself and key kepted falling out.
